PROLOGUE

269 Words
As I stepped off the bus and onto the hot pavement, I knew that this summer was going to be different. The sun was high in the sky, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore was all I could hear, and the air was filled with the promise of adventure and possibility. I had always looked forward to my family's annual beach vacation, but this year I had a secret that I wasn't quite sure I was ready to share with anyone. You see, I had recently come to the realization that I was gay. It wasn't something that I had ever expected, and I certainly wasn't ready to tell my family or my friends. But as I stood on the beach, feeling the sun on my face and the sand between my toes, I knew that this summer was going to be a turning point for me. And then, as if by fate, I saw him for the first time. He was a tall, handsome boy with shaggy brown hair and bright blue eyes, laughing with his friends and tossing a frisbee around. Completely unaware of the fact that I was staring at him, I couldn't help but feel drawn to him. There was something about his confidence, his outgoing personality, and his zest for life that captivated me. From that moment on, everything changed. As we spent more time together on the beach, I found myself falling deeper and deeper for him. But with my secret weighing on me, I wasn't sure if I was ready to open up to him about my true feelings.
