I moved out of my apartment. Curtis moved out of our apartment. He’d lined up an internship at a major accounting firm in downtown Los Angeles. He was moving in with an old high school friend close to work. There was no long goodbye, just a teary one. “Best friends?” he said. I simply nodded, too choked up to talk.
