Hi, thank you for reading the Phoenix nest. As you can tell from this series, animals are very dear to my heart. I love all kinds, both real and fictional. That love is what got me writing this series in the first place. For the phoenixes, I drew inspiration from a variety of real birds just like with the unicorns. They’re a mix of peacocks, ducks, and ostriches. While some of the phoenixes" behaviour is totally made up, I was really surprised and amazed at the real-life derpiness of some of these birds. For instance, I saw a video of the sleeve trick on an ostrich. I had to write that in! That was definitely a fun bit of research. The other things I came across were a little more serious.
