Chapter Three

That night after work Ann was walking home. It was around 9pm and the streets were pretty empty.
Ann was a block away from her apartment when she felt like she was being followed. Every time she looked behind her there was no one there but she swore she could hear foot steps.
As she rounded the last corner to her block she seen a dark shadow darting behind someone's fence. At that point Ann just ran, terrified that someone was trying to hurt her.
She made it to her building and hurried to her apartment and locked herself in. As she set her stuff down her phone rang but because of her adrenaline still running high she screamed and accidentally threw her phone.
"s**t!" Ann yelled as she picked up her phone to make sure it was not broken.
Ann finally settles down and seen she missed the call from her boyfriend. Manny is a very punctual guy and calls the same time everyday. Ann pushes the call button so Manny knows she's okay.
"Hello love" Manny says.
"Hey Manny. Sorry I did not answer right away." Ann says. She considered telling him about the shadow but decided not to. Manny would have made a big deal out of it and insist she sat with him.
"It is okay baby. How was your day?" Manny ask.
At this point Ann was so use to the same conversation that she just zoned out thinking about that shadow.
Was it someone she knew? A stranger? What if she would not have ran?
As Ann got off the phone she heard a strange noise outside her window. She slowly walks over to peek out. What she saw had her wishing she would have told Manny about that shadow.
She looks in the yard and she see noticed a strange man in all black looking up at her. She can not make out his face but it startles Ann. She Harry's and closes her window and makes sure it is locked. She backs up slowly on the verge of a panic attack and runs through the house to make sure all windows are closed and locked before she hides in her room.
