Lago serenità

1306 Words
Alba’s POV The moon hung low over the tranquil waters of Lago Serenità, its silvery light casting an ethereal glow on the lake’s surface. The world felt suspended, the only sounds the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant call of a nightbird. Alessandro and Giorgia stood a few paces behind me, their presence a reassuring anchor in the thick air of anticipation. Enzo was at my side, his hand brushing mine, a silent promise of unwavering support. Luna Isabella’s gaze swept over the lake, her expression serene yet commanding. “Alba,” she began, her voice weaving through the stillness, “there is something unusual about tonight.” She glanced at Giorgia, who nodded in agreement. Giorgia stepped forward, her eyes reflecting a mixture of curiosity and caution. “There’s a rare lunar eclipse tonight,” she said, her voice steady. “I didn’t realise it until now. Normally, I would have woven a veil to balance the magic, but the eclipse itself carries enough power for your shift. It’s a sign.” A shiver ran through me at her words. “A sign?” I echoed, my voice barely above a whisper. “Yes,” Giorgia replied, her tone softening. “The lunar eclipse is linked to your pack’s lore. It amplifies transformation and revelation. Tonight, under its shadow, you will awaken the essence of who you are—both witch and wolf.” Luna Isabella’s expression turned thoughtful. “Alba, our ancestor, Lupo Aeternus, founded Silva Luporum because of this very lake. Its magic is intertwined with our pack’s history. The lake reflects truth, strengthens bonds, and reveals potential. It is no coincidence that it calls to you now.” Her words weighed heavily in the air, and I turned to Enzo, who met my gaze with unwavering confidence. “You’re ready for this,” he murmured. “And I’ll be here, every step of the way.” I took a deep breath, allowing the words of those around me to steady the storm within. The lake shimmered before me, the soft ripples mirroring the trembling anticipation in my chest. “It’s time,” Luna Isabella said, handing me a soft blanket. “Undress and wrap yourself in this. The shift can be hard on clothing.” With trembling hands, I did as she instructed. The night air kissed my bare skin, and I pulled the blanket tightly around myself. I glanced at Enzo, his reassuring smile grounding me in the moment. “I’ll be here,” he repeated, his voice a balm to my nerves. I closed my eyes, reaching for Siena, my wolf. “Are you ready?” I asked, my thoughts tinged with trepidation. “We are,” she replied, her voice a steady presence in my mind. “Trust the process, Alba. I’m with you.” The first pang of the shift hit me like a bolt of lightning, stealing the air from my lungs. I collapsed to my knees, a cry escaping my lips as the pain surged through my body. My bones cracked and realigned, each movement excruciating as muscles stretched and reshaped. My skin burned and tingled, fur bursting forth in silken waves. The agony was relentless, each second an eternity of transformation. “Breathe, Alba,” Giorgia’s voice cut through the haze of pain. “Focus on the lake and the moonlight.” I clung to her words, my mind reaching for the serene image of the lake. Siena’s presence enveloped me, her strength flowing into my weakened body. Together, we endured the storm, each wave of pain drawing us closer to our shared awakening. When the pain finally subsided, I opened my eyes to a world transformed. The moonlit landscape stretched before me, every detail sharper and more vibrant. I stood on unsteady legs, my paws sinking into the cool earth. My fur, a midnight black interwoven with streaks of silver, shimmered under the moonlight, as though it absorbed the celestial glow. “We’re magnificent,” Siena whispered, her awe mirroring my own. From the shadows, Luna Isabella and Alpha Davide stepped forward, their forms blurring as they shifted. In a flash of light, their wolves emerged. Luna Isabella’s wolf, Luce, was a vision of elegance and purity, her white fur gleaming like freshly fallen snow. Her eyes, a piercing blue, radiated calm and wisdom. Beside her, Alpha Davide’s wolf, Leone, exuded strength and authority. His silver-grey coat rippled with muscle, his amber eyes sharp and unyielding. Luce approached me first, her movements graceful and deliberate. “Greetings, Siena,” her voice resonated in my mind, gentle yet firm. “I am Luce, the embodiment of balance and guidance within Silva Luporum. Welcome to the pack.” Leone’s presence was a commanding counterpoint to Luce’s serenity. “And I am Leone,” he said, his tone deep and steady. “Protector of our lands and our people. You are a formidable addition, Siena.” Siena responded with quiet confidence. “I am honoured to stand among you. Alba and I will do our part to uphold the legacy of Silva Luporum.” The connection between our wolves felt like a bridge spanning centuries of history, their shared instincts weaving us into the fabric of the pack. Through our bond, I reached for Enzo. “Can you hear me?” I asked tentatively. His voice came through, warm and steady. “I can, Alba. You’re incredible.” I turned to him, padding softly across the grass. My wolf’s heightened senses caught the scent of him, a blend of cedar and something uniquely Enzo. Lowering my head, I nuzzled against his chest, his hands immediately finding their way to my fur. His touch was gentle, reverent, as though he understood the significance of the moment. “You’re beautiful,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “Your wolf… she’s everything I imagined and more.” Siena purred in contentment, the bond between us deepening as she experienced Enzo’s affection firsthand. For a moment, the world narrowed to just the three of us—wolf, mate, and human—bound together in a timeless connection. Luce’s voice broke the spell. “Siena, it is tradition to honour a first shift with a run. Will you join us?” Siena’s excitement surged through me, and I nodded. Together, we darted into the forest, Luce and Leone leading the way. The cool air rushed past, the ground firm beneath my paws. Every scent, every sound, was a symphony of life. Siena revelled in the freedom, her joy infectious as we wove through the trees. As we neared the lake, Leone slowed, his presence a steady anchor. “This land is yours now,” he said, his gaze sweeping across the horizon. “Run it, protect it, and it will protect you.” The words settled deep within me, a promise and a responsibility. I howled, the sound reverberating through the forest. Luce and Leone joined in, their voices a harmony that spoke of unity and belonging. When the run ended, I returned to Enzo, his arms encircling me as I shifted back to human form. He wrapped a blanket around me, his touch grounding me once more. “You did it,” he said, pride shining in his eyes. “You’re amazing.” I leaned into him, exhaustion and exhilaration washing over me. “We did it,” I corrected, my voice soft. “Siena and I… and you.” The moonlight bathed us in its glow, the lake a silent witness to our transformation. As dawn began to break, I felt a profound sense of peace. The future awaited, but for now, I was content to simply be—wolf, witch, and woman—embraced by the love of my mate and the strength of my pack.
