When we arrived at the store, we popped into a wonderland of imagination and frivolous clothes. "Oh, this place is great, Gene!" she said. She had a sparkle in her eyes and nearly bounced out of her shoes going from one ridiculous costume to the next. I tried on a Mexican sombrero. "What do you think? Is it me?" She laughed, putting her hand to her mouth. "Irish and Mexican do not go together, Gene." She shook her head. We both looked around for more costumes to try. I found a golden crown band with tufted red velvet underlying ribbons of gold that went to a centered cross, putting it on my head. "Now? Can I get by with this?" I asked. She looked at me with absolute seriousness, nodding her head. "Oh, definitely. Royalty suits you." She bent over, making a grand gesture with her hand
