Lucas and I went to the kitchen and he sat at the chair right away. I took two boxes of cereals from the top of the fridge and showed them to him.
"Which one?" I asked.
"Which one, what?" He looked confused.
"Which one do you like better?"
"Why, do I have to eat them?"
"Well, yeah. If you want to."
"How can you eat that? Do you eat that every morning?"
"Yes, pretty much."
"I want bacon and eggs."
"What? How can you eat that? Well I'm not making that."
"Of course you're not. Just move so I can use your kitchen."
"Uh, okay..."
It surprised me that he knew how to cook. Or he just thinks he knows how to cook. I just hope he won't burn my apartment.
I just sat on a bar chair and started eating my cereals while he was making his breakfast. It smelled like he really knew what he was doing.
How can he know how to cook if he's homeless? Where did he learn all that?
When he was done, he sat next to me so he can torture me with that irresistible smell.
"Enjoy your cereals." He smiled before he started eating.
If only I knew how to cook. I would make something right now so he would be jealous. How can a homeless guy cook better than me?
Once I was done eating I started cleaning up the table.
"Wait, what are you doing?" He got up from the chair.
"What? I'm cleaning up."
"Leave that to me. You were so good to me and let me stay in your house, I want to help you."
"Thank you..."
"Except, you're also my wife. I need to take care of you."
"Stop calling me your wife!" I looked at his blue eyes and got lost in them. I didn't hear whatever he said after. His eyes were so deep and he was looking at me like he was really in love with me.
"And that's why I think we should get along better, because even if we're not married, we can still be friends..."
"What? Um, yeah, yeah. You're right."
"Are you alright?" He asked with a tiny smile on his face. I think he knows I'm falling in love with him.
"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
"Okay then..."
"I'm just gonna... Do something. What do you care? It's my house, I can do whatever I want."
"Alright..." He looked confused and I felt like a crazy person.

"Alice, it happened again." I said to my friend over the phone.
"No way, Natalie! You just broke up with Jake. How can you already have another boyfriend?"
"I don't know. He's not my boyfriend... He's... Okay, promise you want say this to ANYONE!"
"I promise. What is it?"
"I got married."
"You what? How can you? Did you? What?!"
"I know, I know it sounds crazy. But it's true. I can send you a picture of my wedding ring."
"Natalie, how could you? I'm your best friend, you can't get married without me! Why did you do that? Who did you marry?"
"His name is Lucas..."
"Lucas? What about his last name?"
"Um... It's... Would it sound weird to you if I said I don't know?"
"What?! You don't know?! What the... What are you doing over there?! Oh my God! You lost your mind!"
"Okay, he's not really my husband... He's just like a friend who I married..."
"Oh really? How long do you know him?"
"Well, we know each other for a long time... I can't really remember right away..."
"How?! Long?!"
"Since this morning..."
"What? You don't even know that guy?!"
"But I guess we met last night..."
"I'm done talking to you! I'll be there as soon as I can!"
"Okay Alice. Don't be mad. Love you, bye!"
"Yeah, bye!"
"Oh my God, she's going to kill me..."
There was a knock on the door and Lucas came in.
"Hey, um... I washed the dishes, so... I need to leave now."
"Where are you going?"
"To work. I mean... To collect stuff from the dumpsters and everything..."
"Okay, just don't bring any of it to my house."
"Alright. See you!"
"God, who did I marry..."
~*~
After some time Alice came and we talked about Lucas.
"Natalie, I can't believe what you're doing to yourself. You can't just marry anyone you see on the street!"
"I know..."
"And he's homeless! So that means he does have a home know. Your house! What if he wants to divorce you? He'll get this house and then you'll be the one who's homeless!"
"I didn't think about that..."
"And who told you you're married, anyway? You said you don't remember anything from last night!"
"I don't know... He told me..."
"He told you. And you trust him?!"
"Well... No, I guess..."
"You're ruining your life! Listen to me, tell him to come right here and we'll talk about this."
"But I... I don't have his number."
"Well that's just great, Natalie! Of course you don't have his number! He doesn't even have a cellphone! I can't... I really can't..." She stood up.
"No, Alice, don't leave. I don't know what to do."
"I can't help you, okay? It hurts me to see you doing this to your self... I don't know why you needed this in your life... I'm starting to think you need a psychologist."
"What? No, Alice, I..."
"No. I can't listen to you making this look like something that just happens to everyone. It doesn't, Natalie, it doesn't!"
"I know it doesn't, but it happened to me. And no matter how much I wish to change what happened last night, I can't. You've gotta understand me."
"I can't! I'll never be able to understand why you did this! I'm done with you, and I'm done with this friendship!"
"But... It's not that big deal..."
"When was marriage a big deal? People get married every day... Goodbye, Natalie! Forever!" She slammed the door and left.
"Maybe I don't need friends like that..."
