“When did you receive it?” Liesel asked.
“Two days ago. I was at the lab today, and the security guard asked me to pass it on to you,” Anthony replied.
Liesel took the envelope, deciding not to open it immediately but instead checked the postmark date.
It showed it had been sent a month ago.
She tore it open.
Inside was a document in Southern dialect, filled with dense lines of text.
She skimmed through quickly until she saw the signature at the bottom: K.
“Do you have dealings with the Southern Islands?”
Anthony couldn’t read the language, but Joel clearly could.
Liesel hurriedly put the document away, throwing him a wary glance, “It’s just work-related.”
“So, you two are work partners?”
Joel had gleaned much from their brief conversation.
