CHAPTER 16 It didn’t take long for Mom to find me. She climbed into the passenger seat and handed me a few napkins from the glove box. She sat there and let me cry for who knows how long. I bawled my eyes out. I was sure all my makeup was dripping down my face, and my hair was an absolute disaster. The amount of hurt that I felt was indescribable. My heart ached and my stomach was knotted. I couldn’t seem to stop crying; I felt like there was no hope left in this world. After a while, I calmed and took a deep breath. I sat up and looked in the rearview mirror and my suspicions were confirmed; I looked like a sad clown. I used the napkins to wipe my face, but it didn’t improve my look. Now, I simply looked like a red, swollen tomato with no makeup on. I got the courage to look at my mom.
