“Okay, if you say so,” he responded and, by the sound of his tone, didn’t sound convinced. “I just wanted to make sure you were alright,” he said quietly. I turned to look at him and saw that he was staring at the road with his eyebrows furrowed and his lips pursed. He didn’t look angry, or upset, more like confused and lost in his thoughts.
