Chapter 9I had to fight harder than ever to keep up my normal façade to Z and my parents over the next couple of days. Z seemed to think my preoccupation was due to an obsession with my fake boyfriend Adam. Mom and Dad thought I was worrying about college too much. I let everyone believe what they wanted, as long as it didn’t come near the truth. Wednesday was Independence Day. There was a huge celebration at our church, and it seemed like half the town was there. Our church was called Mapleville Church of Jesus, but there was also another called Mapleville Church of the Lord two blocks away.
