Chapter VIIIWHEN the holiday was over, Thomas took Sirius to Cambridge. A private bed–sitting–room had been prepared for the wonder–dog within the precincts of the Laboratory, near a room which Thomas occupied himself. The senior members of the staff were introduced to Sirius as “man to man,” on the understanding that they must keep the secret and behave in public as though this dog were only a rather specially bright super–sheep–dog.
