Chapter 2

I stood my ground, refusing to back down. "I'm not putting anyone at risk," I replied, my voice firm. "Alex knows about us, and he won't tell anyone. He's not a threat."

Marcus snarled, baring his teeth. "You're naive, Lena," he spat. "Humans can't be trusted. They're unpredictable and dangerous. You're putting yourself and the entire pack in danger by associating with him."

I felt a surge of anger and frustration. "You don't know Alex," I said, my voice rising. "He's not like other humans. He's kind and understanding, and he's never judged me for being different."

Marcus shook his head, his eyes cold and unyielding. "I don't care," he said. "You need to end things with him, Lena. It's for the good of the pack."

I knew that I couldn't give up on Alex, no matter what Marcus said. He was the one person who had truly accepted me for who I was, and I wasn't willing to let him go. "I can't do that," I said, my voice trembling. "I won't give up on someone who's important to me."

Marcus's expression softened slightly. "Lena, I understand that you care about him," he said, his voice gentler. "But you need to think about the bigger picture. Your actions could have serious consequences for the pack. We can't afford to take risks."

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. "I understand your concerns," I said, my voice steady. "But I can't just turn my back on someone who's important to me. I'll be careful, I promise. I won't let anything happen to the pack."

Marcus sighed, his eyes softening. "I don't like this, Lena," he said. "But I trust you. Just be careful, okay? And don't let your emotions cloud your judgment."

I nodded, feeling relieved that Marcus had at least listened to me. "I won't," I said. "Thank you for understanding."

Marcus nodded, then turned and disappeared into the forest. I stood there for a moment, feeling a mix of emotions. I was relieved that Marcus hadn't forced me to end things with Alex, but I was also worried about the risks that came with our relationship.

As I made my way back to town, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held for me and Alex. Would we be able to overcome the obstacles that stood in our way? Or would our love be doomed to fail? Only time would tell..
