Chapter 13

I decide to take a shower. I asked Will to wait because I need a moment to process everything.. Will told me this morning I would need to be introduced tonight at dinner. Although that makes me nervous, I understand. I'm going to be the mother of this pack, in a sense. I need to get over all the anxiety and be here for the pack, my pack. After I finish my shower I get out and look in the mirror. All of my bruises are gone thanks to Vic… I had a dream about him last night. It wasn't a dirty dream just more of a memory from meeting him at Rollins the first time.. His eyes weren't the diamond blue they are now. They were brown. His eyes must have changed once he became a vampire in my dream something felt off. He kept glancing my way like he knew me so I figured I should go say hello. I tried to talk to him but everytime I would try to walk up to him, he would be gone.

"Hello my Love" I jump and look over and Will is standing in the doorway.

"Will! You scared me, let me get dressed, I'll be right out." Before he can seduce me I shove him which doesn't do much and close the bathroom door. I sigh. I do love Will but at the same time.. Being with him is easy. We fit so perfectly together. When I'm in his arms, it feels like that is exactly where I am meant to be. But, at the same time. The idea of being a Luna is petrifying. He deserves a strong mate who knows how to take care of her pack. But me… How can I help guide a pack of werewolves when I'm not even sure I am one. Will keeps telling me that I am and I want more than anything to be a werewolf. Yet a part of me feels it is not true. I don't want to disappoint him.

I finish getting dressed and walk out of the bathroom and see a confused looking Will looking out his bedroom window. He is on the phone yelling.

"That doesn't even make sense. Run it again, the test must be wrong.. but don't inform anyone of this" He pauses. I assume the person on the other end of the phone is talking. "She just got out of the shower, I'll let her eat and we will be right there." He looks at me and gives me a small smile.. He is talking about me? "Yes, thank you, bye." I walk over to comfort him. He seems tense but instantly relaxes from my touch.

"Hey babe, is everything okay?"

"Let's sit down." He leads me to the couch in his rooms and rubs his hands on his legs like he is nervous.

"Just tell me Will, what's wrong?" I go to rub his back but he takes his hands into mine.

"Layla, Dr.Parker's blood test came back to figure out which pack you come from." Oh great here it is. He is upset because I am not a werewolf. I feel my vision getting blurry as I hold back tears. But I need him to say it.

"Layla, don't cry. You are a werewolf."

"I am a werewolf." It's not a question, it's a statement. But he reassures me again.

"Yes, you are a werewolf." I instantly burst into tears and hugged my mate. This is incredible news and my heart is so happy. My stomach turns when I remember him being upset.

"Wait, why were you upset?" I ask as I break our embrace.

"I was not upset Layla, I was just confused."

"Okay, about what, Mr. Mysterious" I say teasingly.

"I'm sure the test is wrong, but if it's not…" he shakes his head." I need to tell you a sorry first."

"Okay, go ahead." I criss cross my legs and face him. I'm so happy I am a werewolf. I guess that little voice inside was wrong. There is nothing wrong with me.

"Over a thousand years ago, there was a wolf. His name was Kaine, he along with three others were left on the doorsteps of the pack as infants. As Kaine grew, the pack realized how strong and unfortunately, evil he was. He was the textbook psychopath. Killing and torturing animals, molesting female pack members, he would rage and get in a fight with other wolves. Kaine was said to be an incredibly huge and muscular wolf. His pack realized he may be an Alpha by blood and were worried he may challenge the Alpha for his title. One night, the Alpha came home from a battle and found Kaine in bed with his Luna. The Alpha tried to kill Kaine but he escaped. The Luna said she was asleep and Kaine must have been trying to r**e her. Kaine fled the pack in fear. Every pack around the world knew of Kaine and knew there was a death sentence on his head. No one would take him in and if he was spotted he was to be captured. He was captured twice but you see.. Kaine was in his early twenties at the time and it was said he was very… Seductive and persuasive to the she-wolves.."

"So he used the she-wolves to escape?" He nods his head."He sounds awful but what does this story have to do with me?" He looks down and sighs.

"The time that Kaine was on the run. He would gather the strongest rouge wolves he could and eventually was titled, Alpha of the Rogues.. This pack, this pack was awful Layla. They would eat human beings. They were considered a ruthless, cannibalistic pack and everyone feared them. That was...until he found his mate." I gasp.

"How could the Moon Goddess bless him with a mate!" He looks down again.

"I know the Moon Goddess never would have allowed his evil to even breathe if she knew how the events that would come to play."

"What events? What happened Will?"

"Layla, when Kaine found his mate. Olive, she was only 17 at the time. She was said to be made in the Moon Goddesses image. Not only that, but the daughter of the Moon Goddess."

"How can this be true? How could she mate her daughter to that scumbag?"

"To save him, she wanted him to love Olive and change for her. And Kaine did change for Olive. He worshiped her, respected her, he loved her… But everything changed when she became pregnant. She was still a human with a werewolf pup growing inside her. Kaine was still Alpha of the rogue pack. But only good rouges. Wolves he could trust around his Luna and unborn child. He sent away many rogue wolves. He wanted to kill them but his sweet innocent Luna reminded him he was just as bad as they were. Over the years. Kaine had made enemies with many supernatural creatures. The witches, sirens, and unfortunately the Vampires. The rogue pack did not have a pack shaman so Olive would go to the nearest pack to get medical treatment for her pregnancy. Many believed she was the daughter of the Moon Goddess because she changed Kaine. Unfortunately... when Olive was 5 months pregnant just one month shy of giving birth.." He pauses and I look and see tears in his eyes. That's when I realized.

"Poor sweet Olive, What happened to her?" He looks up at me with so much sorrow in his eyes.

"She was captured, and turned by a vampire." I feel faint, how could some. ndo that to such a sweet innocent girl.

"Wait, I thought you had to die to become a vampire?

"You do…"

"So she was killed? Why would they do that to her?"

"Kaine and the vampires were enemies. The vampires knew that turning Olive, and killing his child. Would ruin Kaine, and they needed him."

"They needed him for what?

"The way they killed Olive was they took her pup from her body and hit her with a rock."

"You mean they gave her a csection?"

"There was no such thing as a csection back then Layla." Then it hits me.

"They took the innocent child from her body and let her bleed to death!" I instantly start bawling my eyes out. And Will wraps me in a hug. After a few minutes I look up at him.

"Will, why are you telling me this?"

"When Kaine found out what had happened he was sensibility, furious. He found his mate on the steps of his door three days later. His child gone from his mate's body. And his mate, sweet Olive. A vampire." He shifted and howled. He ran and ran hunting for a vampire, any vampire. He was unsuccessful and made his way back home…. Only to find his mate, lifeless with a stake in her heart."

"They came back and killed her while he was gone? Why even turn her in the first place?"

"The vampires didn't kill her.. Olive couldn't take the pain of losing her child, of losing her mate, even the pain of losing her wolf before she even met her. The only thing Olive wanted was her mother and her child. She killed herself Layla.. She wanted to be with her mother and child." I'm shocked and speechless.

"What happened to Kaine?"

"There isn't that much information known about Kaine after Olive died. He went back to his old ways and tried to forget her. Twelve years later though is when the important part of the story begins. Where your supposed packs story begins.
