A STRANGE LIAISON
Elena drew back at Valentina’s next assignment.
“Any issues, Elena?” Valentina asked, tilting her head.
Elena shook her head. “No. All good.”
“Well then, I suggest you and Angelo look at the third chapter of the book to arrange your project. Time is pressing on.”
Nausea roiled through Elena’s stomach. What had she done to deserve working with Angelo on this project? Did he put the teacher up to this? Was he punishing her for the other night? She cast her mind back to the disco, remembering how Angelo had flirted and made his move. She’d rejected him, and ultimately, he gave her the silent treatment until his friend Marco had returned with Loredana.
The four of them soon left and shared a taxi but Loredana stayed at Marco’s house for the night while Angel
