The atmosphere in the room suddenly turns heavy. Alexander and I both look in that direction at the same time… and for a moment, we both freeze.
Standing in front of us is my brother, Jack.
There’s shock in his eyes… but even more than that, a terrifying anger. Alexander stares back at him, his gaze filled with possessiveness and a silent warning.
My heart starts pounding rapidly. I’m already shaken… and on top of that, I’m only wrapped in a blanket. Shame, fear, and confusion surround me all at once.
I quickly push Alexander, “Move… please…” but he doesn’t get up immediately.
Suddenly, Jack’s voice echoes through the entire room, “GET UP from there! Leave my sister… or I’ll kill you!”
There’s so much rage in his voice that for a second, my breath stops.
