Chapter 4

Morning has arrived… but for me, it feels as if the night has never ended. An eerie silence fills the room. I lie straight on the large bed, my eyes fixed on the white ceiling, as if I might find some answer to my pain there. Not a trace of sleep touched my eyes all night. The memories of what happened last night keep flashing in my mind… the cruelty of that man, his anger, his savagery. My heart still races with fear. It feels as though even my breaths have become a burden. I try to move slightly, but as soon as my body shifts even a little, a sharp pain shoots through my lower back and spreads across my entire body. A soft sob escapes my lips. It feels as if every bone in my body has been shattered. Slowly, I clutch the edge of the bed, trying to lift myself. Tears stream down my face uncontrollably. What happened last night weighs not just on my body, but on my soul as well. I manage to rise a little, and my gaze falls on the bed. The white sheets are stained in places… seeing them makes my breaths quicken. My heart shatters further. I quickly look away, as if just seeing them again would make me relive everything. My hands tremble. I pick up the blanket lying on the bed and wrap it tightly around myself, as if that thin piece of fabric could shield me from the world. I stand unsteadily, my legs barely supporting my weight. It feels as though I am in someone else’s body. Suddenly, the door creaks open. My heart skips a beat. I look toward it in alarm. At the doorway stands a girl… the same girl I had seen fleetingly last night. She carries some clothes in her hands and walks into the room as if this is completely normal. Her steps are confident, her face perfectly made-up… she looks like she just stepped out of a fashion shoot. Seeing my tear-streaked face, she gives a faint smile and says, “Aww… he hurt you badly last night, didn’t he?” Her tone carries more casual detachment than sympathy. I stare at her, trembling even more, my lips quivering. “W-who… are you…?” I manage to ask. Without hurrying, she comes closer to the bed and places the clothes down. Then, looking at me, she says, “I’m Clara… Alexander’s wife.” Hearing this, my eyes widen in shock. “You… his wife?” I ask, astonished. She meets my gaze directly and smiles faintly. “Yes.” Another pang of pain strikes my heart. “He… did everything to me last night… didn’t it bother you at all?” My voice breaks. Clara looks at me for a moment, then shrugs her shoulders lightly and says, “No.” Her answer is so cold, it’s as if I’ve asked something trivial, “My marriage to him is a business deal. I don’t love him… nor do I have the time to interfere in his personal life.” She twirls her hair with a finger and continues, “I’m a model… I love my glamorous world. Fashion shows, cameras, parties… that’s my life.” She lets out a soft laugh and adds, “Besides, Alexander is completely different from that world anyway.” Tears stream down my face even faster. Through sobs, I ask, “You… you don’t get close to him… that’s why he did… this to me?” My voice breaks again before I can finish. Clara shakes her head firmly, “No, sweety… that’s not why.” She looks at me more seriously, “He did all of this because you… are the reason his brother died.” My breath catches. It feels as though the ground beneath me has vanished. Clara continues in a soft, steady voice, “I’ve been with him for five years. I’ve never seen him talk to any other girl.” Then, looking me straight in the eyes, she says, “But he will not kill you.” For a moment, my heart fills with hope… but her next words crush it, “He will make you suffer day by day.” A broken sound escapes my lips, “No… please… save me… I’ll die…” I almost collapse. But Clara’s expression doesn’t change at all. She stands straight, as if my condition means nothing to her. “Sorry, sweety,” she says calmly, “I don’t interfere in Alexander’s matters.” Then she gestures toward the bed, “I only brought clothes for you.” With that, she turns. The soft click of her heels echoes on the marble floor… and then she leaves, closing the door behind her. The room falls silent again. I stand there, wrapped in the blanket, tears still streaming down my face. My gaze slowly falls on the clothes she left on the bed. Istare at them. After some time, I slowly get up and wear the gown Clara had left for me. It is a long white gown, completely pure in color, made of soft fabric. For a brief moment it feels like I am wearing something innocent and pure, but the truth is that nothing can hide what has already been broken inside me. I quietly walk to the edge of the bed and sit down. The room is completely silent, with only a faint ray of morning light slipping through the curtains, yet my heart feels filled with darkness. As soon as I sit, a sharp pain rises through my body; every part of me still aches. I gently place my hand on my stomach and tears fill my eyes again. What happened last night… I had never even imagined in my worst nightmares that the most delicate and personal part of my life my virginity would be taken from me like that, without love, without tenderness, only force and pain. The burning ache inside me still reminds me of it every time I move even slightly. Tears continue to fall silently as I sit there, feeling as if my soul itself has grown tired. Suddenly BANG!!!!!! The door bursts open with a loud sound that makes my entire body jolt in fear. My heart begins to pound wildly as I look toward the door, and my breath stops for a moment. He is standing there Alexander. His tall figure fills the doorway, his face hard, his eyes cold and burning with anger. His mere presence makes the air in the room feel heavy. Fear instantly floods my chest and my fingers grow cold. Has he come again? I think desperately. Is he here to hurt me the same way again? The thought alone makes my breathing quicken. I quickly stand up from the bed, my legs trembling. Alexander begins to walk toward me slowly, each calm step echoing across the marble floor tap… tap… tap...!! yet every step feels like a heavy weight crashing onto my heart. Panic fills me and instinctively I begin stepping backward, one step, then another, my eyes locked with his while his gaze remains fixed on me, unblinking. I keep moving back until suddenly my back hits something hard the wall. There is nowhere left to go. My heart pounds violently as Alexander stops right in front of me. For a moment he simply stands there, then suddenly he lifts one hand and places it against the wall beside my head, and the other on my other side, completely trapping me between his arms. I am now fully caged between him and the wall. His body is so close that I can feel the warmth of his breath. My breathing becomes uneven, my hands begin to tremble, and I lower my gaze, yet I can still feel the weight of his intense stare on me, He keeps looking at me without speaking. TO BE COUNTINUE...!!! What is he going to do?
