Chapter Forty-Two

" Call all the warriors to the pack house, I don't care what they're doing. While you're at it start making calls to the other packs, I want them on stand by. This is a direct attack on us and our Luna and I will not stand for it" Ace said to the head warrior Levi.

" I've already made the call to the warriors they're on their way. As for the other packs who do you want me to call? Not everyone will be so willing to help " Levi told him.

Ace groaned " Fine the ones you know will help, f**k the rest of them" he told him.

" We also need to bring our own witch into the mix, we need our own power. Helen was literally murdered in front of us and there was no way to help her" Kai spoke up.

" I know just the one, I'll call her as well. Maybe tell her to bring some friends?" Levi asked as Kai nodded.

Max just stood there silently as he was watching the chaos ensue. Ace and Kai were both barking orders and getting things done, while he just stood there. Completely frozen. Everything in him was just as mad as his brothers, but instead of reacting he just shut down. Kai nodded his head at him towards the direction of the office.

" You alright? You're looking extra pale" Kai asked him.

Max just shrugged his shoulders " Look I know you're the least assertive and aggressive of the three of us. We'll take care of it" Kai told him.

" But I want to be. What kind of a man am I? I'm not yelling orders or wanting to burn everything down like the two of you, I'm just here" Max told him.

" If you feel about her the way we do, you will burn the whole world down. You're just in shock" Kai told him.

" I'm not aggressive enough to be her mate" Max whispered.

" She gets enough aggression from Ace, believe me. For now let's just find her" Kai told his brother patting him on his shoulder.

" Go get some air or something, we might end up taking it in shifts anyway so you may as well rest up" Kai told him.

Max just nodded and left the room and went upstairs to his room. The second the door opened Alyssa pulled him into a big hug. He just stood there not hugging her back.

" What's going on Max? I can kind of hear a little bit, but I'm not one to be nosey" she told him as she looked panicked.

" Mae is missing, a bunch of our warriors were murdered along with Helen Jenkins " he told her.

" OH sweet goddess " Alyssa said as she clutched onto her chest.

" Helen was beyond sweet and kind. Is there any idea who could've done this?" She asked him as he shook his head no.

" Not yet anyway. Levi is making some phone calls to get us some help" he told her as he sat down onto his bed.

" Max look at me" she begged as she sat down beside him.

He tilted his head and looked at her " It's time isn't it?" She asked him.

He gave her a confused look " It's time that you get to be happy with your mate" she said finishing her sentence.

" Alyssa that's not it at all" he told her.

" I've never seen you so upset, you're so worried about her. As you should be she's your mate" she told him.

" I hadn't decided anything, it's always been you Alyssa " he told her.

" It was me. Now it isn't, and that's OK. It's how it was meant to be. She was chosen for you" Alyssa told him.

" I don't want to lose your or hurt you" he told her.

" You lost me the moment you found her. I know you haven't been acting on your feelings because of me, and not wanting to hurt me" she told him.

" Which I appreciate, I'm greatful that you didn't do anything with her and then just break up with me like Ace did" she told him.

" I feel so guilty" he told her as she gave him a small smile.

"Don't be It's ok" she told him.

Alyssa gave him one small kiss and leaned her forehead against his " Now go find her, and do what's right" she told him as a single tear fell from her eyes.

" What did I do to deserve someone as great as you?" he asked her.

" Just got lucky I guess" she told him with a small laugh.

She took a deep breath and got off the bed " I'll start packing my things and I'll be out of here as soon as possible " she told him.

" Alyssa, thank you. For everything. I hope that soon you're able to find your mate" he told her as he stood up and gave her a hug.

" I hope so too" she told him as she pulled away from his hug.

" Have I lost you forever?" he asked her.

She smiled " No I'm not going anywhere, you can always find me at the clinic. Just because you've left me doesn't mean I'll never speak to you again, you're too special. You've made such great impacts on my life, you really have" she told him.

" As have you Alyssa, really thank you" he told her as he left the room so she could pack in peace.

He went back downstairs and found Ace and Kai talking with all the warriors.

" Alright let's get these fuckers, nobody attacks us and gets away with it" Max spoke as he came into the hallway.

The warriors grunted to show they agreed and went back to their discussions. After some time the warriors left to search for Mae.

" It's about time you're admitting it" Ace told him with a smirk.

" I want her, I'm ready to make her mine. Sorry, ours " Max told his brothers.

" Let's go find our girl and bring her home" Ace told his brothers.
