Chapter Forty-One

Any minute now Mae would come back from her heat. The two of them had really missed her like crazy, Max was finally starting to come to terms with his feelings and even he had missed her.

" She's sure taking her time coming back, such a tease" Ace told his brothers.

" I don't know Ace, something feels off to me. I can't explain it" Kai spoke up.

" There's no way anything is wrong. We put her up in sweet ol Helen's house with her warrior training from when she was younger, her house is secluded, and it's heavily warrior guarded " Ace reminded his brother.

" You had warriors Guarding her while she was in heat?" Max asked glaring at his brother.

" They're not standing outside the house, besides only the already mated ones" Ace told him.

" My point is there's no reason to worry, I'm sure she's just taking her time coming back to torture me" Ace told his brothers.

" Not everything is about you Ace, stop being so narcissistic " Kai told him rolling his eyes.

" OH now that you're f*****g her you speak up huh little brother?" Ace asked glaring at him.

" Absolutely if you have a problem with that, that's your problem " Kai told him shrugging his shoulders.

" Hopefully she gets home soon you two are miserable when you've gone without s*x too long" Max told them as they both rolled their eyes ar him.

" I'm giving her one more hour then I'm going after her" Kai told Ace as he walked into the office.

" There's literally no need to get her she will come back" Ace said following his brother.

" No there's no reason for you to go after her. She and I are just fine, if you did it she'd tell you off for being so controlling " Kai said giving his older brother a smirk.

" I think I liked you better when you barely spoke" Ace told his brother.

Kai just shrugged his shoulders and started looking through some paperwork. Ace didn't want to admit it but he was getting worried too. What if she just decided to flee the pack? They had never marked her so there was limited ways to track her down. Not to mention would she even want to be found if she ran away from them?

They would deserve it if she ran, especially him he was the worst to her. He hated himself for how he treated her in the beginning, he just wanted her in his arms so he could make everything upto her. Ace was getting sick of looking at his brothers so he decided to get a nice surprise ready for Mae when she came home. Maybe it would be enough to show her how sorry he was. Ace went upstairs to his room and pulled a chest out from under his bed.

He opened the chest and pulled out a painting. He secretly had been painting a mural for her, it contained all of her favourite things and colours. He was looking for the perfect opportunity to give it to her and he just knew this was it. He pushed the chest back under his bed and went into the library to find a picture frame that fit. He put the painting into it and smiled it looked amazing.

An hour had officially passed as Ace just tried to distract himself with a book.

" I'm leaving see you later" Kai said poking his head into the library.

" I'm coming too" Ace said closing the book.

" Ok get called controlling your call" Kai told him with a smirk.

" That's fine, I miss her and I can't take it anymore " Ace said as the two of them left the pack house.

" You coming?" Kai asked looking at Max as he was standing by the truck.

Max stayed quiet then slowly nodded jumping into the back seat.

" About time " Ace said with a chuckle.

The three of them made their way towards Helen's house. Kai was definitely speeding but who cares it was their pack. It felt like forever but it really wasn't any longer then fifteen minutes. Kai slammed on the breaks once they reached the outskirts of her house. There laid the warriors that were watching the house, most of them were face down in the dirt not moving.

The three of them jumped out of the truck and checked on the warriors. Not a single one of them was breathing.

" What the actual f**k?" Ace growled as they walked closer to her house.

" Give me a second to call for back up, smells like a trap to me" Max spoke as his eyes went dark and he mindliked some warriors.

" I'm not waiting for them" Ace spoke as Kai nodded.

The front door was left open as the three of them sprinted to the door.

" Mae?" Ace yelled at the top of his lungs.

The three of them searched the entire house to find it empty. Just blood all over the floor and walls.

" This is the dumbest s**t, whoever did this didn't leave a scent" Kai spoke growling.

" Definitely had a witch on their side, that's the only way" Max told his brother.

" Mae's scent is still here at least" Ace said as he followed her scent to the basement and out the cellar door.

The three of them followed Mae's scent until it just suddenly stopped.

" I'm going to kill whoever took her" Ace spoke as he was so mad he was shaking.

" Alpha's?" came a small cough from behind some bushes.

Out came Helen in very rough shape, she was bleeding but they couldn't tell from where.

" I've got help coming from you hang on ok" Max told her as he grabbed onto her hand.

" Who did this?" Kai asked her.

" I, I don't know. I've never seen them before" Helen spoke as she was struggling to breath.

" It's ok don't talk" Max told her.

" I'm so sorry I tried to keep her safe" Helen told them.

" It's not your fault, we don't blame you" Ace told her.

All of a sudden Helen fell to the ground screaming in pain. Kai leaned down to try and soothe her and he had to back up, her body felt like she was on Fire. The three of them exchanged worried glances. Within a minute a visible slice to her throat was made and Helen was gone.

" Were being watched, it's that witch" Max told his brothers as they nodded.

" I'm so sorry Helen, we'll avenge your death" Kai said as he reached down and closed her eyes.

" Whatever is going on we need to be smart" Ace told his brothers as they started to walk away.

" If you were smart you would leave her untouched" Ace spoke loudly knowing they were being watched in one way or another.
