Chapter Twenty-Six

Another few weeks had passed and here she still was. How long was she supposed to hold out for? She also had never seen that warrior again to talk and ask him. If she ever happened to be alone in the hallway or grounds with a warrior she would try and bring it up. While also not directly saying it since she didn't know who was involved and who wasn't.

She didn't say anything but tomorrow was her birthday. She would officially be twenty two. She never felt special on her birthday anyway so it was just another day for her. She hadn't even received a present since she was four. She decided she would go and treat herself today to a cupcake from the local bakery later in the day. She woke up the next morning and looked at her end table and saw a note on it.

She picked it up and read it " Come downstairs ASAP" was all it said.

She got dressed and made her way downstairs. When she made her way downstairs the entire entry way was decorated in balloons and streamers everywhere. There even was a sign wishing her a happy birthday. She stopped and held onto her breath this was completely unexpected.

" Happy birthday Mae" Max said startling her as she continued to make her way downstairs.

" How did you know?" She asked him.

" You're our mate how could we not know?" Ace asked her.

" I haven't been celebrated in a long time. Thank you" she told them.

When they made it to the dinning room Kai pulled out the chair for her. She looked at the table it was filled with all her favourite foods. Waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit.

" Alpha's" she started to say when she was cut off.

" Listen today is your day. We have a special lunch in the works as well as a dinner. If you don't want to eat but would rather eat in town that's completely fine " Ace interrupted her.

" I think that's the nicest you've been when you interrupted me Ace" she told him with a smile.

He smiled back at her " Don't get used to it..." he said with a small blush.

Wait he blushed?! Very interesting.

" What are you wanting out of today?" Kai asked her.

" I really don't know. I'm not used to my birthday being acknowledged. The only thing I know for sure I was going to get a cupcake from the bakery at some point" she told him.

" Red velvet. The bakery makes great red velvet " Max spoke up.

What the f**k is actually going on " Yes" she spoke cautiously.

" You absolutely should go get the cupcake, get as many as you want" Ace said reaching into his wallet and handing her money.

" Ace, cupcakes aren't that expensive " she told him seeing it was five hundred dollars.

" Treat yourself " he told her.

She sighed "thank you" she told him.

Max and Kai also each handed her five hundred dollars " Alpha's this is too much" she told them.

" It's not. Stop arguing" Kai told her.

She wasn't used to Kai talking to her like that anymore so she just nodded her head.

Once breakfast was finished she left the room " See you later Mae" Ace told her leaning it and gently kissing her cheek.

She stared after him very confused but she really couldn't keep thinking about why they did the things they did. She went up to her room to grab her purse and put the money into it. She then made her way into town and got herself the cupcake she had wanted. As she was leaving she ran into her friends from the community center.

" Mae we haven't seen you in forever. Hope our Alpha's aren't too overwhelming " Penelope said pulling her into a hug.

" OH you know" Mae simply responded.

Jason and Evan just nodded at her making sure not to touch her.

" Treat day?" Evan asked her.

She nodded " It's my birthday so wanted a treat" she told him.

They all wished her a happy birthday " What are your plans for tonight?" Penelope asked her.

" I don't have any" she told her.

" Let's go clubbing tonight then to celebrate " Penelope suggested.

" I don't know" Mae told her.

" Come on please will be fun" Penelope begged.

Mae sighed " Alright fine I'll meet you there. What time?" She asked Penelope.

" Ten?" She asked Mae.

Mae nodded " Sure see you then" she told them as she walked away.

Once she made it back to the pack house it was time for lunch and again filled with her favourite foods.

" I just wanted to let you all know I've been invited to go clubbing tonight. I want to go" she told them.

Max just shrugged his shoulders, Kai looked annoyed and Ace had a reaction she wasn't able to read.

" I speak for all of us when I say no" Kai told her.

" Kai shut up. She can do whatever she wants" Ace told his brother.

Is today backwards day??

" I said no. Call it to a vote" Kai told him.

They both turned and looked at Max " she can go" he told him.

Kai just scoffed and rolled his eyes "Fine but were coming with you" he told her.

" You want to go to a club?" She asked him.

" No but I don't trust the men of the club. You both coming too?" he asked his brothers.

Max shook his head no " Sounds like fun sure" Ace spoke up.

" May as well do her presents now then" Max spoke leaving the room.

" No say he's joking" Mae gasped.

Ace and Kai just smiled at her. Max came back in carrying one large box and a smaller box.

" Alpha's this is too much" she said as she was on the verge of crying.

" I wish you'd stop calling us Alpha's " Ace told her.

" Big one first " Kai ordered.

She sighed and slowly opened it. It was a gorgeous floor length blue dress. She gasped as she pulled it out and held it upto her body.

" This is gorgeous " she said admiring it.

" Just as gorgeous as you" Kai told her.

" In two weeks we have a gala coming up. And you need to fit in" Max told her.

" Thank you" she told them as she reached for the small box.

She pulled our a car key " No, no" she spoke as she stared at it.

" Come on" Ace said as he grabbed onto her hand and led her to the backyard.

In the backyard was a pink BMW. She gasped as stared at it.

" I, I don't know what to say. This is way too much. Thank you" she told them.

She gave Kai a hug and gave him a kiss. She kissed Ace. She nodded and smiled at Max

Mae decided to take the car for a drive by herself.

Later Ace decided to drive her to the club with Kai scrunched in the backseat. Mae decided to dress up and was wearing a black dress and red high heels. When they got to the club they walked right in as the people in the club were shocked to see two of their Alpha's there.

The whole room bowed to them as they entered.

" OH hello Alpha's we didn't realize you were coming" Penelope spoke.

Ace just smiled at her Kai kept quiet. Mae spent the entire time dancing while the two of them stayed off to the side talking to each other and just looking around. A fight ended up starting by Mae and Kai swooped in quickly picking her up and moving her away from the situation. Mae was breathing hard looking up at him. He just smiled at her and walked with her to the bar to get her a drink.

He ordered her a glass of wine and shouted at his brother who was already at the bar "I'll be right back" he told his brother.

Ace ended up taking her for a few dances. It was starting to get crowded and some guy ended up bumping into her. Without warning Ace shoved him so hard the guy fell to the ground. Mae pulled him outside.

" What's wrong with you? That was clearly an accident " she shouted at him as they stood in an alley.

" Nobody gets to treat you like that" he told her as his eyes were starting to get black.

" You mean aside from you" she spoke.

" Listen I know I've been awful to you in the past. But I am trying to change that I promise" he told her as he cupped her face and kissed her gently.

She melted into his kiss and held onto him tightly.

He pulled away after abit " You're too classy to be making out in an alley let go" he told her taking her hand.

" I thought I was a slut" she reminded him.

" Not in the literal sense" he told her.

OK whatever that meant she thought to herself. They found Kai in the club and just left without saying goodbye to her friends. They made it back to the pack house.

" Thank you for everything I don't know what to say" she told them.

" You're welcome" Kai told her.

" We want to show you what you mean to us" Ace told her.

" Have a good night" she said when she walked upstairs to her room.

" Wait a damn minute " Kai said as the two of them came into the room with her.

She turned around and Kai was kissing her instantly. Ace closed the door behind them and stood just watching. Once Kai was done Ace came over and kissed her.

" Have a good night Mae? happy birthday" Ace said giving her a final kiss and leaving.

Kai gave her a final kiss too and went to leave " Please stay" she said to him.

" Mae" he said when she cut him off.

" I don't know what today was about, tomorrow I could go back to being treated like s**t. But I want to enjoy what's left of my day. Stay with Me, just kiss and hold me" she told him.

He nodded and laid down beside her kissing her passionately. They fell asleep as he held onto her.
