Chapter 2: The Web of Deceit
Flashback
I stood before the king, my heart racing with anticipation. "Sorry, Your Highness," I said quickly. "I came to give you information about the ceremony. I think we should get started."
The king's eyes narrowed, his expression skeptical. "Very well, Prince Finn. Let's proceed."
As we made our way to the ceremony, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. The king's words echoed in my mind: "Bring me Princess Lora, and we will discuss your future as king."
I knew that I had to be careful. One misstep could mean disaster.
As we reached the ceremony, I spotted Desmond, my trusted guard, blending in seamlessly with the suitors. I gave him a subtle nod, the signal we had agreed upon.
It was time to strike.
My gaze shifted to Princess Lora, who was growing increasingly restless. I kept a close eye on her, anticipating her move.
And then, I saw it - she made a break for the back door, trying to slip away unnoticed. But she wasn't quick enough. I had planned an attack.
The other guards were already in the woods, waiting for her. As she reached the woods, they pounced, surrounding her.
I watched with bated breath, my heart racing with excitement. The plan was unfolding perfectly.
But just as I thought we had her cornered, Princess Lora's maid appeared out of nowhere, causing a distraction. In the chaos, Princess Lora escaped, and the guards lost sight of their target.
I was left standing there, feeling frustrated and defeated.
Later that night, I snuck out to bring food and water to Princess Lora in the dungeon. But as I approached her cell, I was met with a surprise.
The maid from the neighboring park, who had been captured by Prince Charm, was now in the same cell as Princess Lora. And to my surprise, she recognized the princess.
"This is our princess!" she exclaimed.
But Princess Lora just looked at her with confusion. "Who is she?" she asked me.
I turned to the maid and whispered, "Please don't let anyone know that you know the princess, or you both will be killed."
The maid nodded, her eyes gleaming with determination. "I'll keep your secret," she said. "But I want something in return."
I raised an eyebrow, curious. "What do you want?"
The maid's smile was sly. "I want you to spend a night with me," she said. "I see the way you look at the princess, but she doesn't deserve your love. She's never shown me any respect, so why should I care about her now?"
I felt a surge of anger, but I kept my cool. "I'll think about it," I said finally.
The maid nodded, her eyes glinting with triumph. "I'll give you till tomorrow night to think about it," she said.
As I left the dungeon, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was trapped in a web of deceit. The maid's words echoed in my mind: "She doesn't deserve your love."
But I knew that I couldn't trust the maid. She was hiding something, and I was determined to find out what.
As I made my way back to my quarters, I couldn't help but think about Princess Lora. She was still confused, still trying to remember who she was and what had happened to her.
But I knew that I couldn't tell her the truth. Not yet. She was still too fragile, too vulnerable.
And so, I kept my secrets hidden, locked away in my heart. But I knew that I couldn't keep them hidden forever.
