When I finally came to, the first thing that I noticed was the dry feeling in my mouth. I smacked my lips and tried to speak but couldn't work my throat. My head pounding was the next thing I noticed. I tried to reach a hand up to cradle my forehead but something stopped me. Blinking through the pain, I lifted my head and looked down at my hands. They were strapped down to the bed I was in – my bed. The straps came from under the mattress and try as I might in my feeble state, I couldn't budge them. "Wha-" was all I could manage before the pain in my throat cut me off. There was movement in the corner of my eye and I managed to turn my head, though it took all the energy I had.
