Chapter 19: Defending the Youngsters

Phrias and Kori entered the room to check on us and Kori hugged me the moment she see me.

"Althea and Talia, you have to be interrogated too," Saphrias said weakly, "The investigators are almost close to the root cause of this perfume ghost incident. They are trying to find out why only the Lady of West was attacked by that ghost."

Rupert answered, "Althea has a unique kinesthetic ability that might have attracted the ghost. She’s exhausted at this time. Interrogate her and Talia when they are ready. It's the crown prince's order."

Rupert could protect me from this sort of thing if not from Artes. We spend the night in the infirmary. The classes were suspended because most students did not get enough sleep because of the incident.

We were all called to the court the next day, late afternoon.

The court feels different today, unlike our previous visit here. The hall is full of people. The Higher Minister, Herra Normina Zamora, is here to facilitate the session. King Luxembourg is represented by Rupert as the crowned prince. The higher Minister pounded the hammer on the table to start the session. "Estudiantes de Primiera Centralia, you are all here for the investigation of last night's incident. According to the investigation, Artes— a demigod who attacked Lady Althea of West and Talia Astarte last night. We have gathered enough information from all the students. Everyone involved will give their own statement."

The interrogation began with Lauren Kohl giving her statement. She told what urged her to purchase the enchanted from Zera Foster. Her reason was shallow as expected from a child. Brighton is the defense of Youngsters because Saphrias is one of the jurors. He is the one who had studied the reason of each youngsters involved. While Saphrias will be the one who will decide if the youngster will remain under investigation or not.

I was not surprised when people seemed to anticipate what Zera has to say. After all she is a whistle blower.

Zera was very nervous, "The perfume is a love potion. It is designed to allure the person you like, and the person told me that it was made with a witch's spell. I know it is illegal here in Kingdom Majarlika, so I refused, but they persuade me with large amount. I accumulated 50 gold coins."

"What are you trying to achieve and the person who asked you to sell those illegal items?" The higher Minister asked.

"The one who told me to sell those enchanted perfumes promised me a big reward if I will be able to..." Zera is shivering. Something's stopping her. "If I... If I will be able to turn down one of the youngster's councilors."

"Now, is the person who asked you to do it present in this hall and what is that person’s name?" The higher Minister asked.

"She's here, your honor. It was Councilor Kadeen O'neel." Zera answered.

Councilor Kadeen stood up, looking furious and the murmurs uproar In the silent court. The councilor almost screamed at the top of her lungs trying to defend herself. Her facial expression is beyond hilarious. The alibi she stated barely have logic to it.

The verdict of the higher minister was not as satisfying as removing Kadeen as the head of Adults club, but she got a restraining order from participating to any Youngster’s club activities. Maestro Augustus chose his license to teach over his position in the council and was given a chance to go back to his hometown in Dytika in second district. Even Ellana, sister of Evan Echavarria, decided to leave the school and was allowed not to attend this trial.

But as for me, the lady of West—

"Grand Duke Socratheus West granddaughter, Lady Althea of West. Tell us how you were able to unveil the spirit of the enchanted perfume," Saphrias began.

My palms sweat intensely with my voice sounding horrible, "On the last part of the instruction. The spirit appeared in the mirror, trying to possess me. "It was reported that the Lady of West was able to defeat her enemy with the help of wood. According to our studies, only a demigod can only defeat a demigod." The higher Minister said. "If you, Lady Althea, are not a demigod, how are you able to defeat Artes?"

"I..." how should I answer this?

Before I could continue defending myself, the mysterious lullaby sound echoed around the court, making everyone sleep. I covered Talia's ear while the others, including the higher Minister, fell asleep. Few covered their ears, too, and used their power against it.

We were shocked when Imman entered the room with many other people. He looked surprised like us and immediately removed his copied bodies. There's something in his ears that is the one protecting him from the lullaby. There are approximately 12 of us who saw Imman Holster like this. It was me, Talia, Hans, Rupert, Brighton, Randall, Winslett, Zera, Hamilton, Heavenly, Hasmin, and Evan. Instead of going inside to ask us, Imman evacuated the place immediately.
