The Majarlican Demigod
Chapter 40: The Ultimate Astral Projector is a Demigod
Hamilton Jean Les Voir, fifteen years of age, a dodgeball team captain—died due to a bombing. A young person's life ended before my eyes. My sight almost blurs, and I'm turning blank. While everyone was crying in shock, Brighton tried to heal both dead bodies. The bodies were less burned and more recognizable, but none turned to breathing.
"I'm out of healing power. We need to bring the attacker and the team captain's bodies to the Medicus," Brighton said.
"Let's do that," Saphrias calmly said.
Instead of Saphrias instructing us, Brighton tells everyone what to do as we return to Centralia and leave everything to the authorities. Due to the shock of Hamilton's sudden passing, no one dared to speak a word, especially his teammates in dodgeball. Even though we're sure that the team captain won't recover from the blast, we brought him to the Medicus in Centralia. That night, we went to the dorm to get some rest.
TNGY Club will announce what happened to the entire student body. It must be very hard for Saphrias to have someone die under her supervision. Brighton is the only one left with Hamilton. Grim Reaper didn't even appear. He usually visits whenever I complete a task. Maybe I was too harsh on him the last time we met, and he doesn't want to see me anymore.
•••>>>0"Brighton, what's happening here?" I asked.
"Just go to your seat, and we will discuss this later," Brighton responded.
Today is peculiar. Hamilton suddenly became interested in learning and participating, especially in Saphrias's class. Above all, he called me cousin. Never have Wests been related to their family, so he suddenly called me cousin.
Brighton and Hamilton called me to the dodgeball pitch at lunchtime to talk about what happened.
"Welcome to our exclusive meeting, cousin!" Hamilton said.
"Stop calling me cousin!" I told him, "You shall stop acting silly around me. I'm still the la—"
"I see that you're still the same slow person I met in my father's office," he responds with a sly smile. Of course, you're the lady of the West here, but in Olympus, you're the Majarlican Demigod."
Did he just… how?
"Apparently, Althea doesn't know that it's you, Hades' son," Brighton said.
"Wait~"
"~Yey! You've finally figured it out!" Hamilton flies all over us, "It's me, Grimmy! Yeah, I made up a nickname for myself. It's short for Grim Reaper. And I know you have many questions, but to summarize, I was ordered by my father—the god of the underworld where the soul of the dead goes, the boss of Artes's dad, to keep this body alive for the time being."
"Just take precautions, Mr. Grimmy," Brighton suggests, "While you're in Hamilton's body, stop addressing this girl as your cousin."
"Fine, fine, I understand, Mr. Perfect Celestial Guardian," Hamilton responded. I will stop calling Ally my cousin. But you need to understand my situation. This is the first time that I'm allowed to say people's names without them dying. Anyway, this sums up this meeting. Adjourn!" Grimmy vanished from my sight.
"By the way, Brighton, about the other day when you called me to go to the East. I was in the middle of an important meeting there. You promised me that you would work on explaining it to my father." I reminded him.
"Oh?"
"Don't oh me, guardian. If my dad sc—"
Brighton cackled.
Did I just see him smile?
"Your dad is on his way here. He will request to meet you again." Brighton responds, "I'll explain it there. No more questions, Althea." He flew away.
I returned to the cafeteria to meet Hans, Talia, and Zephyra since I was supposed to have lunch with them. The TNGY club members seem at ease now that Hamilton appears alive. I know it is wrong to deceive them like this, but how would I know what Hades was thinking? My sister, though, seems to still find it odd.
"It's better than Hamilton is alive, Zephyra," Hans said, "I can't imagine what kind of frustration it would be for Maestra Saphrias to have one of her students die on their first mission."
"I agree with Hans," Talia said.
"Still, how can someone dodge a demigod's attack?" Zephyra argues. Nevertheless, I agree with all of you. It would be hard for Maestro to take the fact that someone under her died on a mission with her."
"You better stop thinking about it," I suggest, "You might overheat."
"GRR!" my sister barks at me, "I heard that Daddy will meet you again later. He went to the faculty to tell them that you will be out for a bit."
Brighton was right about Dad meeting me later. "Did you happen to hear what it is about?"
"Well, it's about your engagement. Hmmph!" Zephyra crossed her arms, "Eww, Ally is getting married!"
"Heirs and heiress are bound to, Zephyra," I rolled my eyes.
"I'm so jealous," Hans jokingly cried,
"I have no comment, but I want to be the maiden of honor," Talia said.
•••>>>0What are you doing with that man?" I tried to ask.
--No answer from him.
"Thank you for having us again!" my father greeted.
I bowed to my dress again.
"Good evening, your grace. I am truly honored to meet you." Brighton and the old man greet each other.
"Please be seated," the old man says.
My father and I took a seat. I'm embarrassed and awkward at the same time—why is my guardian here? This is not just another business meeting—it's an engagement meeting. And it's my engagement, for heaven's sake! I don't even think that it is my guardian's duty to meddle to this extent.
"I'm glad that my grandson and the heiress of the Wests were going to the same school and are working for TNGY Club. I've never seen the future this bright," the old man said.
This old man addressed Brighton as his grandson!
"I'm feeling the same as you, Commander Salazaria. Having a son-in-law like your grandson has never been more secure than this. Surely, Brighton's name suits him the best." My father responded.
"The honor is mine, Lord Socrathetius," Brighton responded.
"Now that you know who you are promised to, what can you say about your betroth?" Father asked me.
I'm out for words, Father. Forgive my lack of expression here.
"The junior counselor is the most reliable person in the youngster's council despite being the youngest. I couldn't say anything more," ~ except that I'm afraid I'm engaged to a goner!
"That's a relief, lady Althea," the old man said, "My Brighton has always been independent and dependable since he was a kid. I guarantee our family's loyalty to you and to our state." Brighton and his grandfather bowed.
A night spent with fake smiles and pleasantries indeed. When we returned to the dorm, it was almost time for the lights off. Brighton is my celestial guardian and now my fiancé—this can't be more awkward.
•••>>>0"How long are we not going to talk, guardian?" I tried to break the infinite silence between the small distance.
"I've got nothing to say, though," Brighton passed the ball harder.
"Look, I'm not asking for an explanation, but if you would give it, I'll listen," I passed the ball more forcefully.
Brighton sighed, "Remember the party you went to in Zenovi where you were lost with a horse?"
"Ah, that's my first time playing with Hans and other kids with my other cousin Albertus," I responded.
Brighton made the ball go to me slowly, "That's when you were introduced to Brighton Salazaria when he was still alive. According to the destiny tracker, you're meant to marry him. However, he died, so your destiny changed into being unmarried until Kingdom Majarlika vanishes."
"Me, unmarried until Kingdom Majarlika vanishes?" I couldn't believe I was just waiting for the ball to reach me, "It means, because you possessed that body, the engagement went on?"
"Let's say the Greatest Almighty loves you so much that HE doesn't want you to be alone in your lifetime," Brighton let the ball usually move again, "The reason why I was given this body is that it has a real connection to you since you're meant to end up with Brighton Salazaria. Listen, I'm no human nor a Majarlican, neither a god who has feelings or knows emotion that much. Celestial guardians like me were order takers and served the Greatest Almighty with all the given power. That's why I can't promise to be as good as the prince who knows how to feel like you."
"My guardian is worried about how I would feel? Is this a dream?" I passed the ball to him.
Brighton forcefully threw the ball at me, "FOCUS!"
It's funny how I understand why I'm with the Junior Councilor. Even though he isn't the real Brighton Salazaria, he still fulfills what was meant for the goner. Does that mean it's the same thing for Grimmy?
