The Majarlican Demigod Chapter 10: Youngsters Club Sign-up According to the clock, it's 4:30 in the afternoon. I am waiting, with approximately one hundred other Centralians, on the bleachers for the official start of the ceremony. Hans and Talia still need to arrive because they are getting snacks from the stall. A guy called me, "Lady Althea?" I faced him, and it was the prince. My eyes couldn't even blink, "Hh-hi!" I stammered. "Are these seats reserved?" he asked, smiling. "No." I shook my head, then moved one seat to give him space, putting Hans and Talia's things on the following two seats from mine. "Please be seated, your majesty," I said. He looked embarrassed, "Just call me Rupert." he sat beside me. "You know it's awkward when you address me 'highness,' 'majesty,' and stuff like that." "Alright. Sorry." I said in embarrassment. "No. Don't be sorry. It's just that I want you to treat me like you treat Young Master Hans and Miss Talia." he was looking at the pitch. "Ah?" I faintly laughed, "Um, okay then. Rupert." I said. He looked over his shoulders and smiled at me, "Way better." The sun must shine so bright that it makes his eyes and teeth sparkle as he smiles. I could really melt in this instance, but I shouldn't. By the law, I shouldn't. I composed myself by smiling back at him and playing it simple. "Prince Rupert?" Talia and Hans were here with the chips and big cups of drinks. "Hey!" Rupert greeted them. "May we sit with you, guys?" Hans asked, looking at me with a confident expression, playing around with me. Rupert laughed, "Please." he said. The bunch of maestros and maestras, together with the Chief and vice chief of youngsters, arrived. Phrias, Kori, and Chalcedony were all in there. "Pleasant day to all youngsters!" Chalcedony opened. "Thank you, everyone, for attending the opening ceremony of our latest organization here in Primiera de Academia Centralis. We will call it the TNGY club. TNGY club's mission is to inspire all youngsters to do what is right for the nation and serve the nation with honesty, integrity, bravery, loyalty, and respect. And our Vision is to bring all the youngsters into serving their fellow countrymen without hesitation and only stand for what is right." "Um, this is a club, right? It sounded like a campaign election." Talia whispered to me. I signaled her to be quiet. "What's in it for you if you sign-up?" Chalcedony asked. "Vice Chief Florentius, please." The Vice stepped in, "Good day, youngsters! So, these are one of the few ADVANTAGES that you will get a lot of once you join this club. First, endorsement to the higher court if you will pursue Lawmaking studies. Second, you will get a full scholarship in any course you pursue, subject to terms and conditions. Third, secured to get your dream job upon completion of majority years also subject to terms and conditions. If you keep on being active by attending meetings and participating in events, you will have special access to discounts in our snack bars, and you will have an identification card for priority in Libraria Centralia." "We have to get to sign up first!" Talia whispered again. "Also, as the Primiera maestra. you will get to have special tutorials on subjects you struggle with." Kori added. "This is not only for skills development but also for other subjects. This will connect you with the rest of the Centralis kids and the rest of Kingdom Majarlika around the world. Why is that? Because TNGY is made possible globally and has been approved by the Highest Court and King George Harrison. The first organization to be worldwide." The 'Oohs' and 'Aahs' echo. "I didn't know that my uncle has a plan like this," Rupert said. "Are you in this, Althea?" he asked me. I asked to clarify, "What?" "Just in case you're hesitating, I mean, I'm joining so that you're not alone." My motion stopped like he was controlling it. "Ha-ha..." I said very awkwardly, "Sorry. I'm so disgusting." I whispered. "Hans, we're signing up," Talia declared, "we're joining. You, me, and Ally. Right, Ally?" "So you've decided? like, we can't back out of it." Hans comments. "You're joining too?" Rupert asked Talia. "Yes!" she responded enthusiastically, "Are you joining too, Prince Rupert?" He nodded, smiling. Ugh! I'm melting when he smiles. The great thing is that no one can read my mind. "Hello, Youngsters!" Chalcedony tapped on Rupert's shoulder. "Chalice—...!" I stopped, "Chief Chalcedony!" I greeted. "Hey Al!" she responded, "You really grew up fast, lil' cous!" she said. "And, Prince Rupert! Such a great thing for me to have you here." "I'm glad to be here, Chief!" the prince replied to her. "Nice! I'm counting on you, Dale." "Hello, Lady Chalcedony!" Hans waved at her. My cousin looked at him, "Hans! You're such a handsome young man like Brighton!" Then they laughed like any other cliché. "Um, Chief, remember in the first district that I have a best friend who accompanies me going to your house?" I said, "I have her here, Talia Astarte, the fire commander." "Oh really?" Chalcedony reached out a hand to Talia, "Hi, I'm the Youngsters Chief!" Talia shakes hands with her, "I'm so honored to meet you again, Lady Chalcedony." "You looked different from the last time. You've lost weight, and it still suits you, Talia!" Chalcedony said. "What a great memory you have, Chief!" Talia said. "Thanks, Talia," she said. "Oh, since you ladies are new here, let's have an intimate get-together!" she whispered. "Later after this? Wait for us in the bench park. Okay?" Wow. I never thought that Chalcedony would approach us like this. It's different from how Phrias did. "Sure!" "Nearby the snack stall!" she then goes to the other youngsters. It's time to finally do the signing up. Either I'm forced by Talia because our friendship is at stake if I don't, or it could be Rupert signing up... Or because I'm a West. I know that whatever it may be, I know I don't like it, but I'm for it anyway. The pen I used was picked up by the person next in line. "Please go faster. Thank you," the woman with straight orange hair and eyeglasses said to me— I find it very offensive. She's like having the time of the month with that attitude. I made it through. Rupert was waiting on the side. "Are you guys done?" that smile never turns off his face. "Yes," I answered, putting my hair behind my ears. "Althea West," Brighton called me. He ruined the glowing atmosphere, "Youngsters chief is looking for you in the benchmark." Talia and Hans run to us. "We're going," I told Brighton. The bench park has more people than yesterday. We saw Chalcedony, Kori, and Phrias under the tree with picnic materials. It looks like they're having a day off. "Hey!" Chalcedony welcomed us, "Sit down, guys." I was seated on Kori's right, and Talia sat on my right. Then Kori combs my hair with her fingers. "Get your snack." Phrias brought out all the snacks from the big basket, "Guys, I know that I'm very strict inside the classroom but know that I just want to be a good model to you. So, this afternoon is time to loosen up a little bit and eat together!" she said smiling. Somehow, that statement reassures me that we still have the same Phrias. "Chalcedony, don't you think that the council will take it against us that were with the students?" Phrias asked. "Why would they?" Chalcedony replied. "Leave it to me." "Look, Kadeen and Ivy are approaching us," Phrias whispered. The woman with straight orange hair and glasses scolded me earlier, and a short girl with wavy red hair approached us. "Looks like you're chilling out this afternoon," the orange-haired girl said. "Hi, Kadeen!" Chalcedony greeted. "Yes, we are having our little reunion with our younger cousin together with her childhood friends," she pointed to me. "Oh, I see. That young lady looks like Kori and Saphrias," Kadeen replied, looking at me. "You're friends with Prince Rupert too," she faces Rupert, "Good day, your highness." "Good day, Councilor Kadeen!" Rupert politely replied. "Are you done with the member encoding?" Chalcedony asked Kadeen. The orange-headed froze a bit, "Not yet. We're getting a little break," Kadeen replied. "I see," Chalcedony said, "Have a happy break then." I can feel the sarcasm from Chalcedony and the awkwardness that slammed Kadeen's face. "See you later, Chief," Kadeen said. "Bye!" Said the other girl. We watch them walk away from us. "If you're going to ask me what I think about them, I really don't think they should be councilors," Saphrias said, "They're not even familiar with the basic laws." "Miss Kadeen is not competitive enough for the position she has. I have not seen any bill proposed or co-written by her, but so many budgets are requested by her department." Brighton said. "I'm also not sure how she gets the budget approved," Kori said, "But let's give her a chance for now. She's new to the position after their Chief vacates the position." "Somehow, it makes me wonder why the Young Adults Association's department has to monitor this," Saphrias added. *Hhhnnngggg...* the sound hurts my ears. My eyes shut. I remembered what Kadeen did. She purposefully misplaced the membership forms to get Chalcedony in trouble. Instead of working in the library, she moves from one place to another so that they can use it as an alibi. I see the clear Vision of my past memory. We have to stop it. "Ally, are you okay?" Kori asked. "Chalcedony, where are the youngsters' membership forms signed earlier?" I asked. "It's with Kadeen. She told me that they would encode it," she stopped, "she's probably with Ivy having their break, but the paperwork was supposed to be in the library because that's where the equipment was." "Why are you interested in that, Ally?" Phrias asked me as she tried to read my mind. "This might be embarrassing, but I often misspell my father's name because it's long," there's no other alibi I could think of. "Oh... No worries, we will have it corrected." Kori said. I smiled, "Thanks, Kori. Excuse me, I need to use the restroom." Instead of heading to my room, I ran to campus as fast as possible until I reached the gate. That was crazy! I headed straight to the library, secretly looking for Kadeen and Ivy. Maestro Augustus and Vice Chief Florentius are currently writing on the table, using many papers. I switched to one of the book racks where I could see them. "Why are you here?" the voice of a guy whispered to me — I almost screamed! I faced him. (To Be Continued)
