The Majarlican Demigod Chapter 11: The First Project   After breakfast, all students who signed up for the TNGY club were called to go to the picnic grove. Today's our first project, and I'm happy to see Chalcedony. I thought she wouldn't make it today.   Thank you, youngsters, for coming to our first project." Chalcedony said. "I'm happy to see the youngsters being here. We all know that it's been years since the youngsters were allowed to participate in community service. I am honored that your chief can convince the lower court to let the youngsters be heard and be inclusive in our community. Sadly, this first project will also be the last for me." She ended with teary eyes.   The field is filled with a murmuring crowd.   "Your chief will no longer be Lady Chalcedony of the West first district, for I have to sail aboard." She's trying to hold her emotions, "Your new Chief, Lady Saphrias of the West first district."   Saphrias take on the center stage.   "Our dear youngsters, this might be sudden for you, but I will make sure to keep the peace and order in our office. I will make sure that you will be the best rulers of this Kingdom." Saphrias introduced herself. "We will still have Chalcedony as we go to Forgotten Village. So for now, we will go to your assigned lanzaderas."   We followed the instructions and rode the lanzaderas assigned to Kori's class. I seated beside the window and Talia. They said that the travel time will be a little longer because it's on the southern part of Centralis and the South is hard to get to. The road to the South is not smooth as it is from the West to Centralis. There's a lot of dead trees going there. The Palace should do something about this part.   While the others were asleep, I was busy organizing my thoughts. I'm trying to think how Brighton could read my mind and use telepathy on me when other mind-masters can't.   "Ally?" Rupert called me. He's sitting next to Hans which is two seats from me. I looked at him and smiled, "Can't sleep?" I asked. He smiled back so nicely, "Honestly, I was watching you look outside."   I'm surprised. Why would the prince do that? But somehow, it thrilled me.   "How long have you been watching me?" I asked. "Just a couple of minutes ago. I fell asleep," Rupert responded. "You must be thinking deeply. You didn't even notice that someone was watching you." "Sshhh!" Hans warned us, half asleep. We giggled.   Moments like this make me want to be an average person with no Artes in the picture. I wish I could have more of these moments.   "Are we here?" Talia asked. "No, dear, we're still on the way," I replied to her and patting her head that lies on my shoulder.   She closed her eyes again.   But then whenever I remember Talia and how she looked when Artes came to Centralis to get me... I can't. Talia is a mutant who came from Earth— another world. She arrived in Kingdom Majarlika when she was five years old because her real parents died, and a celestial guardian took her to the Mutants Orphanage to be taken care of. We've been neighbors and best friends ever since. If I am an average person, I won't be able protect her, and I will despise myself if something happens to her because of my cowardness.   Urgh! Now I'm a peculiar one. This is not good. I closed my eyes so I could sleep too. I don't know how much time it took, but we have reached the village. The females and males were separated. The females with superstrength and teleporting abilities go with Maestro Florence, and the rest go with Kori. The males with superstrength and teleporting abilities go with Vice Chief Florentius, and the males who can multiply themselves and have not-so-strong physical abilities with Phrias.   There is a big hall with a long line of street children waiting for us, and we have to give them their breakfast. Our group was assigned to the long line to fill the bowl of porridge, and there were many dining tables for them. These people here have weaker abilities because they could not afford to go to Centralia to enhance it.   Kids were obviously undernourished and didn't look neat. When they had their bowl of porridge, their eyes glow brighter. We refill their bowl until they are full. There were sweets and lollies given to them with fruits. The donation of footwear and old toys from the royalties were given to them as well. The joy in their hearts was overflowing.   It just came to me, how much more will they be affected if Artes destroy this Kingdom? That's not acceptable, and I shouldn't let that happen.   As we finished our task of giving out breakfast, we watched the guys carry a big sack of rice and other crops to the fathers in line. Each of these fathers has a wheelbarrow to put the packs on. These guys were obviously tired because the sacks looked heavy.   Kadeen and Ivy were watching them with their clipboards for evaluation, I guess. Maestro and Councilor Ivan Holster are very close to the fathers here. They call him by his first name. Ah! Idina mentioned that they are from the South. This must be their hometown. I eyed Idina and found her sitting with other little girls from her class. I walk to her right away.   "Hi girls!" I greeted. "Good morning, Lady Althea!" they responded in chorus. "Idina, can I talk to you for one quick moment, please?" I said. Idina stood up and walked to me, "Yes, Lady?" she asked. "Your father, Maestro Ivan, seems to be known here. Is this where your hometown is?" "No, my Lady, our hometown is nearer to Centralis. It is up there in the City. Daddy is always here because this is where our grandmother used to live." she answered wittily. "I see." I reacted to her. "Idina!" Imman came rushing. "Hi, Imman." I greeted, "You looked tired. Would you like me to get you some water?" I offered. "No. Thank you, Ally. I appreciate that, though. Um, what are you two talking about." He put his arms around his sister. "I asked Idina if this is your hometown because Maestro Ivan is very familiar and renown to this place," I responded. "Oh... Alright." he reacted. "Yeah... This is our grandparents' hometown." "Thank you, Idina, that's all I really want to ask," I said. "You're welcome, Lady Althea," she responded.   Chalcedony and Brighton distributed medicines, including a bag of home essentials, to the mothers in each house, and some seniors are giving health consultations to the elders of this town. We waited until it was time for our lunch. We have to fall in line too and sit on the same chair the kids had earlier. It's not a fine dining setup, and it feels more enjoyable.   "I had so much fun, guys!" Talia said, smiling widely. "If it wasn't too obvious. You look happy." I said. "Of course, Ally, we don't get to help others like this all the time. All we did was to distribute foods on the table, and it's not from our pocket," she explained. "Don't worry, Talia, when I go back to the palace next weekend, I will ask my father to support a project like this so we can have more of these projects," Rupert said. "Yeah! This is fun. Father loves to go on a project like this. Right, brother?" Prince Roux added. "That's amazing!" Hans amended.   I saw Kadeen raised a brow at us. Why is she so mad at me? I squinted my eyes at her, but then, I realized that she was not looking at me. Kadeen is glaring at Saphrias. This Kadeen will never let the youngsters' office alone.   "Your majesties, you don't have to bother yourselves in proposing projects like this to his Highness. We, in the council, have it covered." Maestro Ivan commented. "That's nice, Maestro," Rupert said. "I hope the council will focus on long-term solutions, though this is a good project."   No one can contradict his majesty, but Maestro has a bullet to rebut.   "If your majesty has a good plan for the Kingdom, I suggest for him to take part in the junior council. It's a good avenue for him to be knowledgeable of how the court works." Maestro said. "I am a prince, Maestro. As you have mentioned, I really do not have to bother." Rupert concluded their silent argument. "I see your majesty, well, there were junior councilors up there who really don't deserve their position because they don't care about stuff like this." Maestro tried to continue. "Like who?" Prince Roux asked. "Our Brighton dude is a bright student, and he's the only Junior Councilor here. I hope you're speaking of another junior counselor, Maestro."   I don't know, but Hamilton obviously chuckled, and most of the students almost laughed.   "I am not saying it is Councilor Salazaria. In fact, I admire the hard work of this fine young man." Maestro trying to cover up himself. "I don't want to be mean, but you should, Maestro." Prince Roux said.   I saw how Imman's fist crumbled. He's getting me intrigued. At noon, we traveled back to our dormitory with the same sitting assignments.   (To Be Continued)
