The Majarlican Demigod Chapter 12: Spies "Why are you here?" the voice of a guy whispered to me — I almost screamed! I faced him. "Prince Rupert?" I asked. "Shhh," he tried to cover my mouth and looked out, "Kadeen is here," he said. I turn around and look for myself. Kadeen and Ivy were here. "Where's the scanning device?" Maestro asked. I need more than the volume to hear it clearly. "Oh! We forgot about that. We went to the stall to get something to drink." Ivy replied. "Let me get that scanner. Where did you guys put it?" Chief Florentius asked. "It's in the service carriage. It was parked in front of the campus. Here's the key." Kadeen gave the keys to Chief Florentius. When vice chief left, Ivy and Kadeen started checking through the papers. "Hey!” Maestro Augustus protested, “I'm almost done with those papers, so be careful. You might rumble that." Ivy hands off the papers. "Sorry." "Augustus, may I ask you to get the blue box from the carriage. It's a little heavy for me. Can you go while Florentius is still there?" Kadeen requested. "Fine." Maestro Augustus responded. Both Kadeen and Ivy waited for Maestro to get outside. "There were too many students who signed up! Chalcedony will get another recognition for this for sure." Ivy said, touching the papers on the desk. Kadeen grunt in distress, "I'm so pissed with her and her sisters. Let's dispose of these papers." Ivy laughed. "Florentius and Augustus will easily notice that." "I'll tell them that we've done half of it and already returned the papers back to the office," Kadeen replied. "Let's just take a quarter of these papers and place it somewhere here." "And do you think those guys will believe us?" Ivy asked. Kadeen answered with complete confidence, "Of course. Those maestros will believe us." She put some papers in a box and placed them near the librarian's station. "Are you about this, Kadeen? The youngsters’ chief will be in so much trouble if you insist on doing this." Ivy asked. "Silence, Ivy. We're doing it for our department. These youngsters are always getting in our way. It's time to take them out of the game." Kadeen responded. Ivy shook her head. I knew that this would happen. This happened before, and I'm not letting Kadeen do it again. This might save her from taking Artes' offer in the future. "Why are you here, Althea?" Rupert whispered. I got no better idea of explaining my self to the prince. If he is the celestial guardian that was sent for me, then he would understand my reason. On the other hand, if he is not the celestial guardian, he might send me to prison for spying. I faced him again with a brave soul, "Those nasty ladies, I’m trying to save them," I whispered, "It’s a long crazy story." "I want to know more about the crazy story of yours," he responded with authority. "I’ve been to the future and I am trying to save those two. I have seen the future which is part of my skills” I said. "From who are you saving them from?" the prince responded, "And what's your plan?" "Artes, the formless demigod. As for the plan, we will wait for maestro Florentius and maestro Augustus to be back and will tell them about the papers," I replied. Rupert was speechless and looked confused when I gave him my reason which is understandable. "I'll go with you," the prince replied. We waited for them to be back and they arrived after ten minutes. Vice Chief Florentius put the scanner on the top of the table while Maestro Augustus complained about the ‘blue box’ that Councilor Kadeen asked him to fetch as it was not in the carriage. When Maestro returned to his seat, he noticed that the papers he piled up got lesser. This is my chance to distract them! I walked to get to the back of the last shelf. Then, I purposely tried making a noticeable noise by taking the books in and out. At the same time, Rupert transformed into a tiny squirrel and approached the door for more drama. I go to the aisle so he can see me. "Hey!" Chief Florentius called me. I acted like I was surprised, "OH!! Vice chief?! Um. Hi. I'm sorry. I fell asleep while reading." "Oh?" Vice is not buying it. I peak on his side, "Is that Maestro Augustus?" He looked over his shoulder, "Yes, and you're not allowed here. The library's closed because we need this space." "Oh. I'm very sorry. I'll go now then." Vice Chief walked me towards the exit. Ivy stopped us, "You are Chalcedony's cousin and you are having your little get-together just a while ago. How on earth?!" “That was one and a half hours ago. I already say my goodbye to my people." I responded. "That's odd, little miss," Kadeen said. It's time for the acting part. I raised my chin, "It's Lady Althea West, the heiress of the Dytika’s grand duke, Miss Kadeen," I tried to sound as cruel as I could. Kadeen looked at me with a raised brow. I have to recite a Majarlican code. "I didn't mean to tell you that but, according to the law written in the first republic of Kingdom Majarlika, by all means, the Chief, Ministers or anyone with a position shall impose a good example to the young ones, commoners, and all that is in Kingdom Majarlika not limited to properly addressing the nobles in their title. This includes you, Councilor Kadeen. If you know that I am royal blood, you should not address me of anything not unless I allowed you to." I love the silence, little humidity, and a pinch of awfulness in the room. "I do apologize, Lady Althea. Councilor Kadeen had a long day already." Ivy said. But I want to piss off Kadeen, so I'm not looking away. "Please pardon my language, Lady Althea. I was not careful about it." Kadeen finally said. I am dying inside to burst out laughing, but I'm holding it in. I tapped my feet three times to signal Rupert to get inside. "I hope it's going to be the last time you will try to intimidate someone just because they're younger than you," I said to add drama. "Thank you, Vice Chief, for accommodating me." "My pleasure, Lady Althea," he replied. "Chief, you're Chalcedony's friend so, I'm cool with Ally." "That’s great!" he said. I walked a little outside. Then Rupert came in. "Oh! There it is!" Rupert spoke, as he walk towards the box where the forms were. "My box, I totally forgot about this. Forgot this earlier.” "Prince Rupert!" the four of them greeted. "Your majesty..." Kadeen is trying to stop Rupert. "Please excuse my impudence, Your Highness. Will it be so kind of you to let us check this box first?" Maestro Augustus intervened. "Yes, Maestro." Rupert cooperated. The checking began. "These are the sign-up forms!" Maestro muttered-- obviously surprised. "Excuse me, your highness." he dragged Kadeen towards the door. "What are these papers doing in that box?" Maestro Augustus whispered. "I'm done with it already, so I put it there," Kadeen responded. I'm hiding behind a bush and can't see their reactions. "We apologize, your highness, but you cannot bring these papers," Maestro said. "Those are the sign up forms… I understand," Rupert said. "Well, I'm okay with it since I have mistaken your things for mine. I'll just ask Prince Roux which library he left my things. Thank you." then he went out. "Are you guys done?"... that's Chalcedony! She teleported. "We're halfway through, Chief," Maestro responded. "Chief, a word outside, please?" Vice chief asked. "Of course," Chalcedony answered. They stand beside my bush. I have to be very still. As planned, the vice chief has reported what Kadeen and Ivy tried to do with the sign up forms. "Anyone from Kadeen's department will not be entertained in our events," Chalcedony decided. "I'll let the whole council know about it," the Vice replied and returned inside. I'm glad that I could prevent that glitch from happening. It might change something in the future- this has to be controlled anyway. I was able to get out of the bush later that day. Well, I have had to wait for them to be out of the library so I can sneak out. After dinner, I went straight to my room to focus on remembering what would happen next. I grabbed a notebook to write whatever I saw in my head. On my study table, I tried to recall by closing my eyes. At first, it's all black, then I see the... Kids. Young children, somewhere outside Centralis with some of my classmates and people younger than us. The Vision could be clearer... I think we were given food and things in small bags and some sacks of rice. Phrias is there with Kori, Maestro Augustus, and vice chief. Chalcedony is nowhere to be found here, and Phrias... She's wearing the Youngster Chief Badge attached to the collar of her clothing. (To be continued)
