The Majarlican Demigod Chapter 13: The Enchanted Perfume   Since it's still a rest day for everyone, the next day, we can go wherever we want and whatever we want to do. Talia and I prepared ourselves early because we planned to go around Centralis. Of course, we didn't know where to go, so we planned to tag along with Hans.   We saw him sitting on the bench park holding hands with Lauren Kohl– one of our juniors.   "Should we ask him?" Talia suggests. "Uhm, yeah... If he wants to, he can bring Lauren with him." I agreed.   We walked to them and pushed our luck anyway.   "Good morning, lovebirds!" Talia greeted, "How are you doing?" Hans and Lauren smiled, "We're doing just great!" Lauren replied. "Nice!" I said, "Why don't you guys show us around the city? As Hans promised on the first day?" Hans does not react the way he usually does. Instead, he is just smiling like crazy. Talia and I stared at him.   "I'm sorry, girls, but your friend couldn't go with you," Lauren said, "We're on a date, so, if you can please excuse us?" she smirked at us. "Ugh!" Talia reacted. "It's ok, let's just go together then! Who needs that sonic monkey!" I whispered her. "Do you know the way?" she asked. "Nope!" I said proudly.   We sat on the entryway of the boys' dormitory and looked at each other for a moment looking hopeless.   "Ally, Talia?" Rupert asked. I faced him and stood up, "Hans can't show us around the city today like he promised because of that girl." I pointed at them. "Ah... I see. You looked so prepared today." he pointed to my dress.   Silence.   Talia looked at me with such puppy eyes. She wants me to ask him. Rupert— the Prince, son of the Great Emperor. I smiled at Rupert, and he noticed what I was doing.   "Ah!" he looked flushing and looked away while laughing, "Ally, you're already pretty. You don't have to do that." "Really?" I said, "Since I'm pretty, as you said, can you show us around?" I asked. The palace guards might be hearing me right now, but... So what!   He looked closer to me at first, "Are you asking the son of Kingdom Majarlika's emperor out on a date, Lady Althea?" he seems serious but sounds messing around at the same time. "If that's how you want to call it, your majesty," I bowed on my dress then looked at him. "Spare me two minutes, ladies. I'll just prepare myself." he runs back to his room. “What happened?" Talia stood up and dusted off the back of her skirt. "The prince will show us around," I said. "Really!" Talia jumped in excitement.   "Zera, the perfume isn't working!"—   We hear another conversation, and it's coming from the library. We draw closer to it. Zera: The perfume will not work to a guy who has a serious girl and to immortals, of course. Look at Lauren. At first, she tried it on Hamilton Les Voir, but he didn't fall for it, so she moved on and used it to her second choice: Hans Salazaria. Another girl: Ok. I'm giving it another shot. I'll try to use it for someone else. If this will not work, you need to give me my money back. Zera: I assure you that it's gonna work. Many girls tried to use it to the two Princes here, but it didn't work, especially Prince Rupert. Another girl: That must be because of Lady Althea. Obviously, he likes her. Zera: That girl... (seemed to be irritated) She doesn't need a higher position. She's the Lady of the West, so she's insanely rich. And she's not that pretty for the prince to like him.   Talia looked pissed off and wanted to meddle inside, so I tried to stop her and pulled her backward.   Rupert called us, "Hey!" I turned around to see how dashing he was, "Let's go!" he puts on a hat.    We walk to the plaza, which is not so far. It's also not a flat road to take on because of the fantastic stores along the way. I think he wears the hat so that no one can notice him. It's a bustling city as many families are out here today. It makes me miss my family back in our district.   "Ally, look!" Talia is showing me a musical box of a dancing girl. "How much is this?" she asked the woman. "20 silvers." the woman replied. "Too expensive, madame, 10 silvers?" Talia asked.   She always wanted to have one of those.   "15 silvers, my dear. That's the last price I can give you." "Ah!" she looked disappointed. So I took my purse and gave the woman 20 silvers, "We'll take this," I said. The woman put the item in a bag and handed it to Talia. "Thank you for purchasing." "Are you ladies good?" Rupert asked. "I think I saw a pastry restaurant. Would you like to eat?" "Yes!" Talia responded.   The pastry restaurant looks impressive with its pastel interior design. We take our orders and sit on the four-seater table. "This tastes good!" Talia said. "That's true!" Rupert amends. "You know, in Texas, we also have these things, and my favorite thing about Texas is their cheeseburgers!" Talia said. "Texas ... Is it far?" Rupert asked.   We burst into laughter.   "Your highness, it's on Earth. You can't just go there." I told him, then sipped on my tea. "Oh? I thought it's somewhere here," the prince said. "That's fine." Talia turned serious. "Um, Rupert, have you noticed Zera lately or yesterday?" "Zera? Do you mean Zera Foster from our class? Yes. I noticed that she has been nicer to me, especially yesterday." he responded. "Why?" "Well, I heard that she is using an enchanted perfume to lure the man they like, and she is selling to other girls too!" she whispered like a professional gossip girl. Rupert looked surprised, "Really? That's not good. It's witchcraft, and it's f*******n here in Kingdom Majarlika." "I know, right!" Talia said. "Did she use it on me?" Rupert asked. "She tried to, but it failed," Talia said. "They said that it wouldn't work on immortals like demigods or celestial entities." "One thing's for sure, I'm not a celestial guardian. I may have wings and can transform into different wild animals but, I'm not an immortal," he replied.   It stabbed me right in the ear.   I did not mishear it.    Rupert confirmed it by himself--he's not my celestial guardian. There is no need for me to ask it anymore.   "So, why didn't worked on me?" Rupert asked. "Aside from being an immortal, if a man is already serious about one girl, the enchanted perfume will not work on them," Talia said, smiling. "So, since we're friends, can you tell us who is that fortunate girl that makes you immune from the enchanted perfume?" she teases. Rupert laughed. "She's someone you girls know." "I know, it's Ninna Adorre or Heavenly Admeirre." I guessed. Rupert giggled, "No. Those girls were introduced to me more than twice, but I never had a thing for them. They looked plain to me." I shook my head, "Their beauties are exceptional to me, though." "Yeah, they look like an angel to me." Talia amended. "All the princess and other royalties look like them. What I want is someone who looks like a Majarlican but has a fascinating identity." he snide. "Then who is that Majarlican looking girl you like?" I asked. "You'll know it soon," he said, glaring at me.             On our way back to the dormitory, I noticed that Maestro Augustus had come out from the campus gate with Ellana Echavaria. Maestro might be tutoring her as part of the youngsters club. The thing is, it reminds me of the memory I had, which tells me that he will be in a big scandal.   Maestro is not really the type that frequently interacts with a student, especially with female students. I let it slip for now because I can't just change things like what Grimreaper said. I have to choose a detail to change very carefully.   On the following day, Episteme time with Maestro Augustus. Everyone can tell that he is a bit lively today and seems to be in a good mood.   Augustus: And that is how a formless demigod possessed the man. Now, the formless demigod cannot fully control the body because the person's soul is still in his physical body, which means that person has given full consent to the formless deity. Imman: How sure are you that the person has given full consent to whoever is inside him? What if he was blackmailed or extorted or his frontal lobe suspended like how a mind-master does? Augustus: I am sure because a Majarlican body can resist a spirit from entering it. It's person to person, so it's like you poured water into a jug. If you pour water into a pitcher, will the pitcher turn into water? Imman: No. Augustus: Exactly! The jug did not become the water just because it has it there. The same goes with Artes possessing you or anyone else. Did everyone understand that? Us: Yes, Maestro.     The wind blew pretty hard inside the room that Maestro's hard-covered book flip pages, then an envelope fell in front of Winslett. Evan took the envelope and was about to give it to Maestro.   "Airavâhce Anallé?" Evan reads the envelope then looks at Maestro. "Looks like Maestro already has special someone!" he handed back the envelope to him. Maestro takes it and just smiles. "Sit down, Evan," he placed it back between the pages of his book. He is flushing over the envelope. It must be something like a love letter.   It's our short break, and I decided to go to the library for a moment, and Talia tags along. Only a few people go here on a short holiday, so the lights are primarily off since sunlight will suffice the room to be o lit for reading.   I was about to go to the History book section when I noticed giggles behind the rack. Not exactly being a gossiper, but I turn my feet to the Arithmetic book section to see who those people are. Since I can't view them higher, I bend a little and check if they are sitting on the floor.   "What are you doing?" Talia whispered to me, I was so surprised my feet moved, and the shoe squeezed on the marble tile really loud. The giggles stopped, so I sat on the floor and got a book to pretend that I was reading.   Seconds after that, I saw Maestro Augustus from my peripheral vision.   "Althea, Talia?" he called us. "Hello Maestro." we greeted.   He passed by, and I didn't blink, totally ignoring the time, waited for the girl she was with to come out. I'm running out of patience because we only have 5 minutes to go back to our classroom. A girl then came out. It's Ellana! Another bomb explodes in my brain. This is not going to be good at so many levels.   "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Talia asked. I stand up after placing back the book on the rack. "The perfume?" I replied. "Did she used it for..." Talia said she couldn't finish. We just look at each other and started walking out of the library. "What are we going to do with it?" Talia asked. "Maestro will surely be in a big scandal if that happens," I said. "I have a plan!" Talia said and dragged me back to our homeroom.   She said to wait for lunchtime since it would be the best time to execute her plan. I don't know if this will affect the future since I'm not the one who proactively helps the situation. Both of us tried to be the focus on the job. The first target is Lauren, who is currently chatting with Hans.   "Hi, Lauren!" I greeted. "Can we have you for one quick moment?" She stood up from her seat and moved closer to us, "What is it?" she whispered to us and sounded irritable. "Well, we noticed why Hans is head over heels for you," Talia said. "You did?" She was so surprised. "It's your scent, dear! Where did you get it?" Talia asked. "My scent?" she sniffed her collar, and she smelled what we were talking about. "Yeah. It is my scent. I bought it from Zera. Zera Foster." Lauren responded. "Really? I think I needed one too! You know, mutants like me cannot attract guys." Talia said. Lauren gazes at Talia like she knows what Talia is trying to do.   "Well, it's expensive, my dear," Lauren said. "My best friend, Lady Althea is paying for it, though. You know, she's insanely rich because her father is the Lord Socrathetius of the West First District." She's acting like a mean girl. Lauren looked at me. "I know. Well, that's 1 gold coin per bottle, and you can select a scent from Zera's collection. It's imported from Councilors Kadeen's mother's province." "Really?" I have to tag along, "So a gold coin for that bottle is already expensive for you? Ugh. I can get 5 or 10 if I want to. Come with us, and I'm gonna purchase that perfume from Zera."   We go to Zera's table. She's talking to 5 other girls that include Idina, and she's probably the youngest.   "Sorry to interrupt, girls but, Lady Althea is here to purchase one of Zera's perfumes," Talia said. Zera stood up, "Shh!" she signaled us to quiet. "Really!" she's excited.   ~What a two-faced girl. I thought she hated me because Rupert was not enticed by the perfume.   "Sit down, Lady Ally and Talia," she said. "Why do we need to whisper?" Talia asked in a low voice. "Because it's a secret," Zera responded. "Ok, enough with that, girls," her other customer said. "So, the perfume works when you do these instructions written on this paper." she holds out a small brown paper. "Remember that you have to focus when you do these instructions, and you can only use the perfume according to its purpose." she has 3 sampler bottles on the table.   There's a yellow, red and blue bottle.   "The yellow is if for the person to feel the same way about you. This one requires your feelings. The danger of this is if you feel mad about the person, you will receive the same emotion." She continues.   Yikes. No one's gonna buy it.   "The blue ones are for the other person to feel the other way around on you. The danger of it is if the person likes you then use this that person will hate you." Zera pointed to the next one. "And our best seller is this. The red vial. The person you think of will be madly in love with you. He or she will do anything you say. The danger of using it, if you run out of the perfume, he will slowly feel nothing about you, and this perfume will not work to a person who has pure love for someone else."   The girls around me looked into each other.   "What if it didn't work? Will we be refunded?" Talia asked. "No need for a refund, my dear. It will work." Zera said confidently.   The girls started putting their gold coins on the table for the red perfume. Talia put the gold coin I gave her earlier, which we marked with hard rock. We all agreed that our purchase would be delivered after dinner, which would be a secret to the boys.     In my eagerness to help, I decided to play along with Talia's game. Another time-lapse, we received the item at night after dinner. We decided to read the instructions first before doing it.   The instruction: 1. Face the mirror and make sure that you fix yourself according to your desired look. 2. Spray the perfume in the mirror until you can't see your reflection clearly. Do not leave the front of the mirror until it's dry. 3. When the mirror is dry, get a piece of paper, write your prospect's full name, and put that piece of paper inside the perfume bottle. Remember to think of the person. If you're thinking of something else–it will not work. 4. Let the paper soak on the perfume and remove it after 10 seconds. Burn the piece of the paper as you say the name of the person. 5. When the paper turns to ashes, you need to eat it. Wait for 1 hour, and your prospect is all yours.   Note: It wouldn't take effect for immortals and someone who is profoundly and purely in love with someone else.     It's time for Talia and me to decide whether who will do the ritual. She tossed a silver coin in the air to stepped on it as it fell on the ground. We looked at each other, obviously nervous about what the result would be. She revealed it by putting away her feet. The symbol of Majarlika appeared, which means I have to do that thing.   "Really now?!" I exclaimed. "If you will not do this, we will not know how it works and how to stop it. Besides, you are a nullifier. It won't take effect on you." she said.   Without further ado, I fix myself in her room. I tried to look as pretty as my face could do. I put on some products that could illuminate the good points on my face. She picked the most enticing dress that I have from my closet.   (To be continued)
