STERLING'S POV
The word echoed in my head long after she said it. Divorced?
It didn’t make sense.
Before the two Alphas could recover from the shock she had just dropped so casually, I reached for her wrist and pulled her aside, my grip firm enough to leave no room for argument.
“Sloane.”
She didn’t resist at first, but the moment we were out of immediate earshot, she tried to pull free. I tightened my hold.
“What are you doing?” I demanded under my breath, my voice low.
She didn't say anything. I stilled for half a second before reaching for the mind link.
Sloane.
Still Silence. A cold, empty silence.
My brows furrowed.
Sloane.
Nothing. Was she ignoring me on purpose? To upset me?
I tried again, pushing harder this time.
