I was just about to retire for the night when my phone rang, it was Otis, Sterling's Beta.
"Luna," he said. "I've been trying to reach you. I need your clearance to process a relief grant for Desert Rose pack."
"If it's urgent, why have you not contacted Sterling?" I asked.
Otis sighed. "I tried but the Alpha is er- occupied. He's personally caught up in planning a lavish birthday party for Penelope."
A sneer curled my lips. Of course Sterling was occupied with his mistress.
It would probably take him a couple of days before he noticed I was gone. Deciding to ignore the grant, I ended the call, and switched off my phone. Let RiverDale sort their mess out themselves.
