LILA'S POV.
Back when I was with my parents, my father always told us bedtime stories about ghosts and the reasons why they appear to different people. One of the reasons is when someone is involved in the death of another. The ghost of the person will always appear to avenge his death.
I have not killed anyone before or even thought of doing that. Why will a ghost be touching me?
Did they bury someone in my room?
A whole lot was going through my mind.
My room was not plastered, and they may bury someone there whose spirit was restless and wants to avenge the deaths of the people who were involved.
I believed the ghost followed me outside, so as I ran inside, I locked the door and windows so that it wouldn't be able to come in.
I forced myself to sleep and saw myself the next morning.
It was another morning of work. Each day that breaks my heart skips, because of what is waiting for me that particular day.
It has been routine for me here. I wake up, start my chores, and close by 7pm. And in the night, Kelvin will come in to have s*x with me.
Most of the time I don't eat from morning till night, either before Kelvin comes or after he is done having s*x with me. This has been the way I have been living my life ever since I got to the Lycan Kingdom.
Days turned to weeks, weeks to months and I have not seen or heard from my father nor mother. Not even a greeting or letter sent across and I long to hear from them.
One fateful day, I had already resumed the day. I was so weak that all I wanted was to lie down and sleep. I was not able to eat the previous day, and a lot of noise was taking place in my stomach.
I managed to reach the storeroom where I keep the equipment I use to work. As soon as I got there, I could no longer feel my legs. My whole body was shaking.
And boom! It happened.
I passed out.
I opened my eyes and saw the guard who was given the responsibility to watch over me sitting at the edge of my bed.
He was absent-minded. I tapped him and he flinched.
“Oh! You're awake. All thanks to the Moon Goddess.” He said, happiness laced on his face.
Ever since I came to the palace, that day was the first day he smiled. I didn't know he had a beautiful set of teeth.
“What happened to me?” I asked, surprised at his reaction.
“You collapsed today in front of the storeroom.”
It was at this point that everything came afresh. I could vividly remember how I was feeling before I passed out.
“Aurora instructed that you be taken to your room while the doctor comes here to attend to you. He will soon be here.” The guard said, still smiling.
I kept wondering why he was this joyous.
Does it mean that I mean so much to them that they wouldn't want to lose me?”
I was trying to understand why the wicked Aurora would instruct the palace doctor to attend to me after treating me like I was a mere object that had no life.
The guard's phone buzzed. He checked it and smiled.
“The doctor is here.”
He quickly opened the door and he came in. He was not dressed like a doctor but was on cooperate. I love the fragrance of his cologne and just like his personality. He came with some of his equipment.
“I'll run some tests on you to diagnose what the problem is so that the right treatment will be given to you.”
After he was done with the test, he stood to leave and the guard also stood to leave.
“I'll be back in two hours to inform you of the outcome of the test.” They left at the same time.
I was left alone in my room. My room was already becoming an adventurous place because a lot had been happening. I was literally living in fear. From the weird dreams to the unknown touch. It was really giving me concern. One of the ways I handle it is by fixing my gaze on something that makes me happy, and I would definitely forget everything. It was my coping mechanism.
I don't have a clock or a watch to check the time, but my instinct kept telling me that the doctor would soon arrive.
In a short while, I heard a knock. I managed and went to the door and it was the guard.
I sighed.
I was expecting the doctor. He brought some food for me and left immediately. I was about to shut the door when I saw the doctor from afar. I waited patiently for him to arrive.
“Good evening, Doctor.” I greeted and went to sit.
The doctor nodded, beaming with smiles.
“My dear, I came with some good news.” He turned to make sure nobody was listening to us.
“You're two months pregnant.” He said, clapping his hands in joy.
“Pregnant?”
The doctor nodded.
“Now, our king will finally have an heir, and he will be so excited that you made it happen. You've….”
I quickly kneeled before the doctor.
“Please doctor, do me a favour. Don't tell the king or anyone that I am pregnant or the outcome of the test. I'll do it myself. Reasons best known to me. Please…” I begged amidst sobs.
The doctor was surprised at my reaction. I knew he wanted me to jump and be excited just the way he was.
“It's okay ... .y…But why are you in this… Well, it's fine. I'll keep it a secret.”
I jumped to my feet and didn't know when I hugged the doctor.
“Thank you very much, sir. I don't take this act of kindness for granted. “
“You're welcome. I'll be taking my leave now. Do well to take care of yourself.” He left.
I shut the door so that nobody would interrupt what I wanted to do.
I sat on the floor, rubbing my stomach. I remembered my mother and how I have always wanted her to be with me when I am pregnant, and finally it has happened. I was in so pained that there was nobody to take care of me in this condition, and if care is not taken, I may lose this baby.
I kept rubbing my stomach, and tears were rushing down my face as though it were a stream.
I kept thinking of what to do for me and my unborn child to be on the safer side. I think a lot, and that is how I get my results. But this time my head was blank, no idea was coming.
Just as I was about to give up, an idea dropped.
