Before Tim could ask Alicia another question, her head had already dropped onto the pillow. She was out. Her soft breathing filled the quiet room. He looked at her, half amused, half worried. “Stay away from alcohol,” he whispered, shaking his head. “You only end up talking nonsense.” He pulled the duvet up to cover her, tucking her in gently like she was the most fragile thing. He lingered for a second, eyes soft on her face, before quietly leaving the room. Morning came too fast. Alicia sat up with a pounding head. “Ugh, hangover,” she muttered, dragging herself to the curtains and pulling them wide, allowing the sunlight to kiss her face.
