Just as she reached for the doorknob of Lucas’s office, her phone buzzed in her purse. She sighed, already slightly annoyed at the delay. But when she saw the caller ID, her heart skipped, and she shifted away from the door immediately.
“Hello? Yes… I’m the one… What?”
Her fingers gripped the phone tightly as her face went pale.
“I’ll be right there.”
Without thinking twice, she turned around and hurried away.
