Chapter 6 - Visiting mom

Ruby POV

When I came over to the hospital, I went into my mom’s room. She was asleep so I just sat on a chair beside her. I scrolled through my phone, and just waiting for my mom to wake up, when I got a phone call from Ryan. “Hey Ryan” I said when I answered. “Hey, are you at the hospital?” Ryan asked, I started to walk out of my mom’s room,

“Yeah, but she’s asleep”

“Oh, say hi from me when she’s awake”

“Of course, but what did you want?”

“I just wanted to ask you what you wanted for dinner”

“Uhm, something with chicken”

“Okay, and we’re gonna talk when you’re home”

“I don’t think we are”

“Yes, we are end of discussion”

I just rolled my eyes, imagine if eight overprotective guys kept an eye on you all the time. “Don’t roll your eyes at me” I heard Ryan say, I just rolled my eyes again. “See you later” I answered and hang up before he could answer. When I went in, I saw my mom was awake. “Hey sweetie” my mom said, “Hi mom, I should say hi from Ryan” I said. “Oh thanks, sweetie, say hi to him too” she said. “Sure” I said and looked down. “What’s wrong, honey?” she asked. “Nothing” I answered, even though I could tell her about John. But I didn’t want her to worry. “Yes, there’s something, and what is it?” she answered, “Ugh, I’m just tired of school” I lied right through my teeth with a smile on my lips. “Are you sure that is the whole thing?” she asked, “Yeah” I smiled at her “Now let’s do something fun”, “we can play a game” she said. “Sure” I answered her, and we decided to play uno.

Liam POV

It was a 7 pm, and me and the guys were starting to cook dinner. I got a phone call from Ruby, “Hey what’s up, Ruby” I answered, I heard a sob from her, which is one of the most heartbreaking thing. “What’s wrong, why are you crying” I asked her, when I said that all the guys looked at me. “N-no reason, just ca-calling to say that I wo-won’t be home for din-dinner” she answered. “No, you’re coming home” I said in a very stern tone. “No, I wo-won’t come home” she answered. “What is happening” Ryan asked, “She is saying she won’t be home for dinner, but she is crying” I answered him, “Put her on speaker” he said, and I did. “Young lady, you are gonna drive home now!” he said in an angry tone, “N-no, I’m not re-ready”. “Ruby, where are you?” Mark asked, “The ho-hospital” she said in between her sobs. That was a relief, at least she isn’t in danger. “Why are you crying, and don’t you dare to say nothing” Noah asked. After that she didn’t answer but hanged up. Ryan got even angrier, the other guys just looks concerned. “I’m gonna get her” Ryan said,” Dude, no you’re too mad to think clearly” James said, “I’ll go get her”. “I will go with you, just in case you know” I said. When we arrived at the hospital, we went straight to their mother’s room. What I saw when I entered was heartbreaking, Ruby was sitting beside her mother, holding her hand and crying. We both rushed over to her and I pulled her up and we both hugged her. “Shhh, it’s okay just stop crying” James said to her, we kept holding her until she calmed down. “Why are yo-you here?” she asked us still crying a bit. I lifted her head up, and wiped her tears away, “We are here to get you home” I said to her. “No nee-need to” she said with a bit more attitude and looked down again.

“You know we can’t leave you like this, right?” I asked her

“I won’t leave”

“Yes you are, you should be glad that it was us who picked you up”

“No, I don’t wanna go home” She said as she pulled away from us, she sat down and held her mom’s hand again. “We can’t help you if you keep hiding stuff” James said to her as he kneeled in front of her. “I don’t need your help, I just need her to be healthy” her voice broke as she said that. “What happened?” I asked her hoping she would tell me, but of course she didn’t, she is way too stubborn for just saying it like that. “Okay now we are gonna go home, end of discussion” James said with a really stern voice. I took her hand and pulled her up, “Just let me say goodbye at least” she said, finally she listened to us. I let her go over to her mother, after she said goodbye, we drove home. James drove her car home so she wouldn’t have to do that later. The car ride was quiet, which wasn’t like her at all.

Ryan POV

When I heard Ruby cry, I got really angry, because I hate hearing her cry. The guys cooked dinner but my mind was too clouded. It might seem as I’m overreacting, but she never cries only after that John guy. I heard the car drive into the garage, and I walked into the garage. When I came in there, I saw Liam holding Ruby, who was asleep but looked really pale, “What happened?” I asked Liam. “I don’t know, she didn’t want to tell us” he answered, and started to walk inside the house. “Should we put her in her room or on the couch?” Liam asked me, “Just put her on the couch, then we can keep an eye on her, so she doesn’t run away from her problems like always” I said. He laid her on the couch and put a blanket on her, I was really worried about her.
