LUCIAN's POV As I stared at the pastel-colored decor of the waiting room, the odd shapes on the walls seemed to merge into a semblance of her face. I must have been losing my mind. We had agreed to give each other some space, but it had been nearly a week since we last saw each other. I couldn’t accept the idea of her leaving my life, couldn’t accept the idea of being without her. I struggled to sleep at night, my body so exhausted that it had taken a tremendous effort to keep my eyes open during the morning meeting. My mind was a chaotic mess, and my sleepless nights were taking a toll. The emptiness at home grew with each passing day, threatening to consume me.
