Granny's Advice

" Lilian" mama called me inside the house she gestured for me to sit beside her on the bed, then she began her lecture" Lily my daughter,you know you are entering a new class and it's also a new school,you are no longer in primary school but entering into secondary school" she paused for a brief second then continued " you are going to a boarding school and I will not be there with you,you will be leaving on your own,I want to advice you as a mother, focus on your studies,read your books so you can become a better person in the future you know every mother wants the best for their child , don't follow bad friends know the kind of friends you choose, follow friends that are of good, characters, intelligent , obedient and God fearing people.......................................................................

Before I go on with the advice,my granny was a christian fanatic ,she never joked with the things of God ,she took everything too serious, there was never a church program she missed always present which gave her the nickname " Active mama". Even when she was sick ,she would still go to church,only at times when the illness was so serious that she would reluctantly agreed to stay home.

There was a all night program that was held every last Friday of every month,my grandma was ill then but as a fanatic for God she refused to stay home, normally I don't go with her for all night program, I can't miss my sleep for some kind of prayers , but on that faithful day I followed her because she was not strong to move alone. We got to the church after much struggle on Lagos road .

Half way through the program my granny fainted,she fell on the ground, little me thought it was some kind of praying pattern she wanted to use to pray, had I know she has fainted , when I realized she was not moving I shouted for help ,after much effort she was revived,I thought I was going to loose her ,I don't like praying before but that day made me realize prayer is the master key ,I prayed like those prayer warriors that was fighting against an evil spirit after my prayer session I was sweating like someone who ran a marathon race and breathing like someone a mountain was placed on it's head.

Then I remembered that song that says

"* live it there, live it there

take your problem to the Lord and live it there

he will surly deliver you

when you put your trust in him

take your problem to the Lord and live it there*"

let's get back to the advice session with my granny

" you will be starting school tomorrow and I need you to be on your best behaviour, study hard I mean very hard so you can keep your promise by buying your own motor car and stop entering Lagos bus" she said smiling ☺️ " okay mama I will do my best and I will make you proud" I reassured her.

That night felt like the longest night,that night I arranged my things,put my clothes in my bag and every other necessary things

to prepare for the next day journey,after arranging my things I ate and slept peacefully with a full smile on my face and lots of things going on in my brain 🧠.
