Chapter 51 - Daughter

2104 Words
One message has been received by Joffiel. She looked at it and found out that it was Shiro, the old man. Shiro is really in need. He is hoping that Joffiel can help her. He already talked to different people but no one can help him. Some of them are only using him to get money or benefits from him. Jessica is the only one being honest to him. The orphanage cannot release information without proof that Shiro has the papers of the child. The picture he showed was old and they can't identify the face of th Shiro believes that his daughter grew up, that's why the picture does not match to a child he was describing. Joffiel replied to his text. She promised to help him as much as she can without any thing in return. "Jessica, is the orphanage open every Saturday? I would like to visit again and meet Mr. Shiro," Joffiel said. "Yes, Ma'am Joffiel. If you want, you can come with me," Jessica volunteered. "Really? That's perfect. I don't want to bother Keidi since he needs to review for his upcoming exams," Joffiel said. "Should I come to your apartment? Do you know how to drive?" Jessica asked. Joffiel nodded. She got her driver's license with the help of Keidi. She used the files she saw in her drawer to apply for a license. Her name was there and even the age and the address number of the apartment. Everything is already settled. Even though she has papers about herself, she will still try to avoid all the questions related to her past. No one should know that she really doesn't exist in the human world. It's better to keep all the details herself. "I know how to drive, Jessica. I just want Keidi to have a part time job so he can afford his daily basic needs and other things needed in his studies," Joffiel explained. "I really can't believe that I got to know someone who is very kind and thoughtful without asking for a return. How do you manage being positive?" Jessica was intrigued. "You need a lot of patience. This is what the elders taught me when I was a kid. They trained me to see the beauty in every situation. Hurting or humiliating someone will not make me better than them. My favorite thing to do is to help people," Joffiel explained. "The people around you were so nice. You looked like an angel to me. The halo and wings are the only things you do not have," Jessica joked. Joffiel also laughed at her joke. People are really imaginative and sometimes believe in the books they are reading. When the weekend came, Joffiel drove to the orphanage and met Jessica. This is Jessica's weekend routine so she's happy that Joffiel came with her. "Is Mr. Shiro already there? I am sorry if I am three minutes late," Joffiel said. "Not yet. He's on his way. Let's wait for him and while waiting, let's play with the kids," Jessica said. Joffiel agreed and instead of playing, she is teaching the kids how to color a book. She's enjoying her time spending it with the kids, now thinking if her weekend free time would be given to these kids. She wants them to learn more, not just playing around. Mr. Shiro came from his restaurant so he's late and it's okay with Joffiel. She's willing to wait and help because it's her task after all. Her day off at Denver Coffee Shop is every Saturday so she's free the whole day. "Big sissy, are you a model? Why are you so pretty? I want to be like you when I grow up," one kid asked. "When you grow up, you can achieve the best version of yourself without comparing yourself to anyone. Believe in yourself and always remember to be humble all the time. Those who are kind and love to help other people in a good way will always be a beautiful creation by the Creator," Joffiel said to cheer up the kid. "Woah! Is that your secret to being positive all the time?" the other kid asked. She pinched the cheek of the kid. She said, "Of course. Having a positive mind can give you a beautiful smile. So remember to be kind and thoughtful. That's what I am saying to everyone. Do you agree?" Joffiel taught the kids how to be kind and respect everyone, especially the elders who are taking care of them. Jessica agreed to Joffiel and helped her discuss the importance of kindness and helping others. They went back to the lobby since Mr. Shiro had already arrived and patiently waited for them to finish teaching the kids. "Good morning, Mr. Shiro! How are you?" Joffiel greeted in a happy tone. "Good morning, ladies. I'm sorry if I was late. I had to finish my urgent work at the restaurant," Mr. Shiro said. "It's okay. The time we spent here was worth it. The kids here are very active and happy to be taught. Jessica volunteered to join us searching for your daughter. Now, we will discuss the information needed to find her," Joffiel said. Jessica leads them to a private room to have privacy. One of the nanny joins them so that she can also help if ever all the information they gather can prove that his daughter really went to this orphanage. Joffiel is glad to know that the orphanage still wants to help Shiro. They are just strict with the information of the kids since they are aware of syndicates around. Some people are claiming the kids just gave the picture and fake documents. "Let's find your wife first. Did you guys get divorce?" Joffiel asked. "No. She just left me and didn't even help me to find our daughter. She brought with her all the papers and money from our vault, including our daughter's birth certificate and other important papers. I tried searching for her for 21 years. I did not stop and I don't have the plan to give up," Mr. Shiro explained. "When did she get kidnapped? I mean how old was she at that time and how old was she when you got the news she was sent to this orphanage?" Joffiel asked, simultaneously. Jessica was amused by Joffiel's questions like she's used to it. Sometimes she thinks Joffiel has power because she can't even feel breakdowns or pain. However, she would not deny that there are people who are positive outside but hurt inside. She decided to be good, especially Joffiel. She doesn't know what she's been going through. "She's three years old when she got kidnapped. My cousin said she saw my daughter was brought here by someone and that was two years after we lost her. She should be 24 years old now," Mr. Shiro said. "Wow! We are at the same age. Maybe I know her if ever we got the information about her. I hope she's in a good place," Jessica said. Joffiel looked at Jessica. Why do I find them similar or a bit look alike? Maybe I am just imagining things. I really hope Jessica knows her. Joffiel thought to herself. Jessica and the nanny went out to get food for them. Joffiel gets the chance to talk to Mr. Shiro alone. "Do you know something related to her appearance that would give you a hint? Like a birthmark?" Joffiel asked. "Yes. She has an almost circular birthmark on her back. I didn't tell anyone, just like you. I don't want anyone to check or touch her back. But I do trust you for this," Mr. Shiro said. "Do you still want to find your wife? If you want, give me her details and I will find her for you," Joffiel asked. "Maybe yes? If ever I find my daughter. I still want our daughter to know her. She's still her mother even though things went wrong," Mr. Shiro said. Mr. Shiro shared the details of his wife. Luckily, he still has a picture of her. The whole name there and it is impossible for her to change the surname since they didn't get divorced, unless she has someone who can help her cheat the papers. Days had passed, Joffiel decided to search the possible names of Mr. Shiro's wife on social media. After 2 hours of searching, she finally found the wife of Mr. Shiro. She started a conversation and introduced herself. Joffiel directly told her that she's working with the orphanage and trying to find their daughter. Bella, Mr. Shiro's wife agreed to cooperate with her. They decided to meet each other to get the files of their daughter. Bella has no other family and wishes that her husband already forgave her. She admitted that she has no face talking to her husband again. She felt embarrassed and wronged after what happened to their daughter. She decided to work and has now owned a beauty salon. Since Joffiel has an instinct about Jessica, she secretly gets hair strands of Jessica and Mr. Shiro for the DNA samples. She went to the nearest place with a DNA laboratory. "Why are you late, Ma'am Joffiel? This is your first time being late," Carlo noticed. "Sorry, I had an errand to run," Joffiel explained. It's okay for the directors to be late since they are also the boss of the department assigned to them. Joffiel just really needs to bring the hair strands of the two. "What happened?" Jessica asked. "Nothing. I had to finish one of my activities for my other job," Joffiel answered. It is true that she did finish one of her jobs, and that is thinking of creative designs for Christmas themes. However, she chose not to say about the wife of Mr. Shiro. Joffiel patiently waited for the result. She's still doing her job at Azazel and Denver Company. Just like what Joffiel expected, Jessica was the long-lost daughter of Bella and Mr. Shiro. Now, she need to find out if the birthmark Mr. Shiro is saying is visible in Jessica. "Jessica, Can I invite you to my apartment? I have something to tell you," Joffiel said. Joffiel filed this day to be her day off on Coffee Shop just to make sure she can finally help Mr. Shiro and his family. "Oh, sure. You looked so serious about that. It makes me feel nervous," Jessica said. After their work, they immediately went to Joffiel's apartment. She cannot hide Jessica's true identity. She handed her the DNA test result. As what Joffiel expected, Jessica was in shock after finding out the result. She cried and did not know what to feel. She already lost her adoptive parents and having her real parents is a different kind of feeling. "Can I see your back? Mr. Shiro said that his daughter has an almost circular birthmark," Joffiel asked. Jessica took off her blouse and let Joffiel check her back. They used a camera to let Jessica see what's on her back. There is indeed a birthmark just like what Mr. Shiro is saying. "If you want Mr. Shiro to know the truth, call him immediately. I know that he's going abroad tomorrow. I already contacted your birth mom and she will go here tomorrow morning to stop your birth father from leaving for work. His work will be for 3 months. Life is too short, you should talk to them," Joffiel said. "I will definitely talk to them. I know how hard it is for my birth dad to find me. I didn't know that my real father was just near me. I am happy to know that they are still alive. I want the both of them to be happy as well and have a better understanding of their relationship. I want to have a complete family. Can you help me find his house?" Jessica said. Joffiel and Jessica went to Mr. Shiro's restaurant. When they found him, Jessica immediately ran and hugged her father. She's crying and can't even say a word. Mr. Shiro is so confused that Joffiel told the truth about his daughter. After a few minutes, Bella arrived. It is Joffiel's surprise for Jessica and Mr. Shiro. Joffiel is so happy because not only finished her task, but also helped them to unite, especially her teammate at Azazel. The star of the fifth bead became visible. Her task was done already without too much effort. Joffiel let them enjoy each other so she decided to go home.
