Clay took in their surroundings, torn between wonder and disgust. After they’d met with the council, some smaller and perhaps younger members of the Shag tribe came and led them to another big, round room. It held low benches and lounges padded with thick, fluffy blankets and cushions. Beside them were long tables, each laden to groaning with plates and bowls of food, along with ewers of aromatic liquids. Incense burners sweetened the air and peculiar sounding music seemed to come directly out of the walls. He wondered if he’d accidently smoked or ingested some strange drugs. This could not be real.
