As chance would have it, at that moment the stormwater channel spilled into a lake. The eddies and currents and force and rage became manageable for competent sea creatures like Deep and Stork. A quick glance from Sabienn showed that the lake was large enough to be accepting the flow from several courses of water; both man-made and natural. It acted as a place of regulation and peace.
With haste, Deep steered his group to the bank of the lake and found an area shielded by tall reeds. They flipped over into a pool protected by a shallow submerged berm acting to make still water. Stork and Deep carefully laid out Steev on the bank and they looked him up and down. They didn’t even have to touch him. They just lay themselves on their own winged backs and looked up at the stars.
