"You think about stuff like that?" Melody asked me.
"Of course, it will be my future," I said to her.
"Fine, next time I will tell you when I am taking a nap. But next time, let me know when you decide on the twins," Melody told me.
"Fine," I said to her.
"Vi, look at this," Musa said while showing me a book, holding it up for me to read. As my eyes scanned the page, I frowned. It was a picture of my mother, which was weird because, first of all, her hair was black instead of white. The title of the page said: Skylar White, Head Witch of the Coven of the Dark Moonstone Meadow. That can't be right. My mom isn’t a witch, let alone a Head Witch. Not that I doubt her leadership skills, but leading a coven as this book says? Then why didn’t she tell me?
"Can you maybe think about the fact that you are a FREAKING HYBRID?" Melody screamed in my head.
Shit, I didn’t even think about that.
"Musa, can you read the page? Does it say why her hair is white now? Or why mine is?"
"Sure. It says that your mother is the Head Witch of the Dark Moonstone Meadow. She was born with raven hair, but it turned white due to a curse placed on her family—especially on the women on your mother’s side."
"What triggers the curse? And who dared to put it on my family?" I asked Musa in a dangerous tone, my voice overlapping with Melody’s and my face as cold as stone.
"Damn, uh, Vi, can you maybe chill with that look? It’s making me a little uncomfortable. It looks like you’re ready to kill me," Musa said with an awkward chuckle. Musa handed the book to Nova for further reading.
"It says the curse is triggered when the witch uses her magic for evil or personal gain, giving the witch white hair as a sign that she is cursed. But it doesn’t say who cursed your family. However, it does say that a child will be born from two equally strong bloodlines, and this is the only way to break the curse," Nova read out loud.
Whoever put this curse on my family is going to wish they had never been born. Nobody messes with my family and lives to tell about it. That’s a promise. Maybe those notes were warning me about this. Realizing I needed to tell someone about the notes, I looked at Musa and Nova, sighed, and made my decision.
"Nova? How do I use my Alpha voice?"
"You need to say it together with Melody, whatever you want to command. Not that hard."
"I’m sorry about this," I said, looking at them with an apologetic expression. "But what I’m about to show you cannot leave this house. Melody, if you’d like to come forward, please. REPEAT WHAT I AM SAYING. I WILL NOT SPEAK ABOUT THIS WITH ANYONE OTHER THAN THOSE PRESENT HERE NOW," I said in my Alpha voice. Musa and Nova repeated the same thing.
"I have been getting notes in my locker at school, but they don’t say who they’re from. They’re just warning me about something, which I do not yet understand. But I think it’s something big and extremely dangerous," I explained to them.
"And since I don’t know who sent them, I don’t think it’s wise to tell those three Alphas now—not until we know more about the sender," I said again in my Alpha voice, making it clear I was serious about this.
As we discussed the notes, I noticed Musa and Nova looking uncomfortable.
"What is it with the uncomfortable look?" I asked them.
"Well, you did give us an Alpha command, which means we physically can’t talk about it, even if we want to. But what we don’t understand is why we are both listening to the command," Nova stated. Now that she said it, it made me think about it too.
"Maybe your wolves know that we are connected."
"Connected how?"
"Well, think about it. I’m most likely to be the Luna of Blackfang, but I’ll also be the Alpha of Bloodmoon at some point. You’re both going to be working for me in one way or another. Musa, you as my Luna Beta, and Nova is my First Beta because I will not accept the packs being merged," I told them, watching them nod in agreement.
"It will be fun working with me, better than with those boys who won’t listen to the advice you give them because of their stubbornness," I said with an evil smirk, which made Musa and Nova giggle.
"I’m getting kind of hungry. Maybe we can order something to eat?" I asked them. They shook their heads enthusiastically.
"Vi? Can you please talk to the twins and invite them to eat with us? They need to know this too," Melody asked, almost begging. With a sigh, I looked up at Musa and Nova.
"Nova, can you ask Rose to come? Musa, can you ask the twins? Please do not say anything—I am doing this for Melody."
"Melody?" Nova asked, looking confused.
"Oh yes, my wolf. Wait, I never asked you—what is your wolf's name?" I asked Nova, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"My wolf's name is Eclipse, and if you want to know, I can tell you Rose’s wolf’s name too," she said carefully.
"Sure, it’s better to know than not knowing, especially since I’m mad at her for something she couldn’t control." Realizing what I said, I knew I was being unfair to Rose. "The name of Rose’s wolf is Athena."
"Like the Goddess of war and strategy?" I asked Nova.
"She says she is related to Hecate. But we all know how much the family tree overlaps with the Greek gods." I heard Rose say this behind me as she walked inside like she always did—carefully entering the living room. Getting up, I walked over to her and pulled her into a hug.
"I’m so sorry for being the biggest b***h on this planet," I said to her with an apologetic look.
"I think that title isn’t yours to claim. I think that’s Stefanie’s," Rose said, which made us laugh. As we laughed, the front doorbell rang. I got up and went to open the door. I knew it was the twins with Logan. Opening the door, I was flooded with a feeling of calmness.
"Hey, guys. Logan, Rose is in the living room—you know the way. And congratulations on finding your mate. I didn’t get the chance to say it before my drama started," I said to him with a big smile, but I looked serious. "You hurt her, and I will hurt you. Got it?"
"Yes, Luna," he said with a smirk before walking to where Rose was sitting. Turning around, I was pulled into four strong arms, being crushed in a hug.
"Guys, I can’t breathe," I tried to say, and they let go immediately.
"We have a lot to talk about—specifically, my history," I told them, looking up at them both. Taking them by the hands, we walked toward the living room. I giggled as we passed the mirror. I looked like a toddler being supervised.
As I giggled, they raised their eyebrows and gave me a questioning look.
"I look like a toddler next to you two," I said, giggling hysterically. Now knowing why I was laughing, they joined me. As we entered the living room, I suddenly heard two vicious growls directed at Nova. Taking my hands out of theirs, I walked over to Nova, who was cowering at the fact that two Alphas were growling at her. Standing in front of her, I let out the loudest growl I had ever heard, making them stop and look at me in surprise. They were feeling my Alpha aura if you could call it that.
"You will not growl at her or make her feel unwelcome. Am I understood?" I asked, standing with my hands on my hips. Still looking confused, they raised their eyebrows.
"AM I UNDERSTOOD?" I asked again in my Alpha voice. This time, they looked shocked, their eyes widening. It was kind of funny, but now wasn’t the time for laughing.
"Why is she here?" Caleb asked in a dangerous tone, making Musa stand up and step in front of Nova, also protecting her. That made me happy.
"She has very important information for me, which is why I invited her to my home. If you don’t like it, then you can leave. She is my guest, in my house," I told Caleb, looking him dead in the eyes. Not blinking or looking away, he finally backed down, averting his gaze.
"What did you mean when you said she had information for you?" Damien asked, smirking at Caleb.
"I was going to tell you before SOMEONE interrupted me," I said, giving Caleb my scariest glare. He looked away. Good.
"It’s a pretty long story. So first things first—food. Since Melody has woken up, I’m always hungry. I want Italian."
"Good idea, Alpha," Nova said, making the boys look at me again. I knew why she said it like that—she was making it clear that I was her Alpha, not them. I felt a sense of pride in her actions.
"The food is ordered. Can someone please explain what, in the name of the gods, is happening?" Logan asked.
"Okay, please bear with me. As I told you, I didn’t want any of you talking to me today. It gave Stefanie the idea I was an easy target," I said, eliciting growls—not directed at me, but at Stefanie.
