Chapter Thirteen.

"As I was saying, when I walked in, some wolves from the Bloodmoon pack bared their necks to me, recognizing me as their Alpha. Not knowing why or what it meant, I let it be. But then Stefanie tried to fight me, which didn’t go as planned. She lost—let’s keep it at that," I said with a smirk and sent Nova a wink, knowing she had seen the whole encounter. "I made an example out of her, showing that I was done taking s**t from everybody. The wolves of Bloodmoon started stomping on the ground, chanting my name. During lunch break, Nova came to me asking if she could sit with us, knowing Musa was the Luna’s Beta. We talked about you being my mates, and she had questions I didn’t know the answers to. She asked me if I had an Alpha parent, which made Musa realize who my biological father was. That’s probably where Rose comes into my story." I took a deep breath before continuing. "My biological father is Alpha Alexander McReid, which makes Nova the next in line for the Beta position," I said with a smile toward Nova. "That’s why she’s here, and it’s why you brought those books earlier. I needed to know more about myself before being your mate. There’s more, but I hear the delivery guy walking toward the door about to ring it." Nova jumped up to get the food and pay for it, while Musa and Rose went to grab plates. Damien and Logan started putting the books away since they were quite old. As Nova thanked the delivery guy and walked back in, I walked over to her and grabbed some of the food boxes to help her carry them. Once everyone had their dinner, I continued my story. "When we found out who my father was, I asked Nova to make an appointment for me with him. He agreed, with extra permission for Musa to accompany me so I wouldn’t have to go alone. I knew you two would make a bigger deal out of this than it is. I also plan to ask him for permission for Rose to be with Logan. By the way, Rose, congratulations on finding your mate—I didn’t get the chance to say it before all my drama unfolded," I said, smiling at her. "I wanted to know what my job would be as Alpha heir to Bloodmoon and as Luna, so I asked Musa and Nova to come with me to learn more about my roles. As you brought those books, Musa found one about witches and their covens. In it, she found a picture of my mother, but something wasn’t right. In the picture, my mom had raven-black hair instead of the snow-white hair we both have now. It made me question why I have white hair. Musa noticed my expression and got scared, so Nova took over and started reading it to me," I explained with a sigh. "Someone cursed my mother’s side of the family, especially the women," I finally blurted out. "Wait, someone cursed your family?" Logan asked, clearly confused. "That’s what we found out. We also discovered that the curse is activated when a witch considers using her magic for evil or selfish purposes. It’s like a conscience, keeping us in check, maybe. But we don’t know who cursed my family," I said with a sigh. "Maybe my father will know more about the curse since he is my mother’s mate," I added, thinking out loud with my finger on my chin. "You’ve been a little busy, spitfire, haven’t you?" Caleb asked with a grin, making me chuckle. "Well, I couldn’t just sit on my ass waiting, now could I?" I asked him with my usual tone. "But what I don’t get is why you didn’t tell us about it. Are we that untrustworthy?" Damien asked, making himself heard. "Well, I did ask you to keep your distance. Talking to you would mean not listening to my request. Besides, I needed to figure some things out on my own. If I’m going to be a Luna and an Alpha, I can’t have someone holding my hand the entire time. Yes, I would’ve asked for help, but only from the people whose opinions I specifically wanted," I tried to explain to him. "Right. That’s also something we need to talk about." Damien said, and Caleb nodded in agreement. "What is it we need to talk about?" "You becoming an Alpha." "And why is that something to talk about?" I asked in a low, dangerous voice. They had better be kidding, or heads would roll. "Dude, I’d think carefully about what you’re going to say. She looks ready to kill you," Logan warned, his tone serious. "That pack is my birthright. It is mine. You could try to take it, but the consequences will fall on you and your pack. And no, this isn’t a threat. It’s a promise," I told Damien and Caleb, looking them dead in the eye. "Vi, you need to take a breath. Look at me—your Alpha aura is suffocating," Nova said, putting her hand on my shoulder, which made the twins growl at her again. I was getting fed up with that growling. I pushed Nova behind me, stepped in front of those Alpha assholes, and looked them straight in the eye. "Didn’t I tell you to make her feel welcome here? If either of you ever growls at her again, I will personally kick your asses. Am I making myself clear?" I asked, making them nod. They looked like puppies who had lost their favorite toy. "Which brings me to my next topic. I want to train. I want to be able to protect myself and those who need it," I said to the twins, knowing they were going to protest. Turning towards Rose and Logan, I continued, "I heard you are the best fighters." "Not the best, but capable," Logan answered, and Rose nodded. "Good. I want to start as soon as possible, knowing I have some years to catch up on," I said. As I glanced at them, I noticed the time. Realizing it was later than planned, I addressed everyone. "Guys, this day has been pretty long. We’re going to wrap it up and talk more about it tomorrow after I meet with my biological father. We have enough room for you to stay over, Rose. You know the way to your room. Take Logan with you. Musa, are you okay escorting Nova to her room?" "Sure thing, Alpha Luna," she said with a wink, making me roll my eyes. "And you two," I said, pointing at Damien and Caleb, "can take the room next to mine. Girls, I have some clothes for you to sleep in. And if this is going to be a regular thing, maybe it’s a good idea to bring some clothes here so you don’t have to wear the same ones from the day before." "That’s a good idea, Vi," Nova said, making me smile. Walking to my room to grab clothes for the girls, I headed to my dresser. As I reached for them, two pairs of hands beat me to it. Turning around, I saw Caleb and Damien behind me, taking the clothes to give to the girls. Fine, I thought, rolling my eyes at them. "The room on the right is yours for tonight. Goodnight, guys," I called out, closing my door and getting ready for bed. I took off my makeup, changed into pajamas, and got comfortable. Sleep never sounded so heavenly, I thought to myself. "Goodnight, Melody," I said to her. As I drifted off, I began to dream. Looking around, I didn’t recognize where I was. "Finally, you are here," a voice said to me. Turning around, I saw two of the most beautiful women standing there, smiling at me. "Hello, child. Welcome to the realm of dreamwalking. Welcome to the Dimension of Sight. We brought you here to explain some things and help you understand what you’re up against. But for you to understand, we need to take you back to where it all started," one of the women stated. "Maybe this is a weird question, but who are you two?" I asked. "Oh, silly us. We haven’t introduced ourselves. My name is Nyx, Goddess of the Moon. And this is Hecate, Goddess of Witchcraft and Magic," Nyx said with a smile and a jump in her words, making me think she didn’t take most things seriously, while Hecate was more quiet and collected. I shrugged. "What do I need to understand? I know I am the first werewolf/witch hybrid." "Yes, but you are not the first. Well, you are the first who lives. Your mother made sure of it. She was going to tell you about it, but something happened to her, making it impossible for her to talk to you. But for you to understand, you need to go back to the moment when the curse was pronounced," Hecate said, her tone serious. It made me realize something was wrong with my mother. "Take me back to that moment," I said determinedly. As soon as the words left my lips, I was blinded by a light that transported me. Looking around for the second time that night, I saw my mother as a little girl with black hair, standing next to an older woman. Was that my grandmother from my mom's side? "Who is that woman with my mother?" I asked the goddesses. "That is your grandmother. But that is not your mother—it is your aunt. Your grandmother had one daughter before your mother."
