Chapter 1.2: Camilla's Death

775 Words
After meeting her eyes, his body instantly lost its strength. That stare, the very same stare he always prayed to never see again. The exact same look he saw ten years ago that is still evident in his memories, like a nightmare waiting to be unleashed. "No! I know what you are thinking, master!" Code furiously shouted while shaking uncontrollably. "With the Interstellar's current power, it is possible to break the bond between us and permanently cut off any connection from the space and the real world." Camilla continued. "Master!" Code screamed with disbelief. He can't believe what he is hearing right now. The only person he treasures the most, even more than his life, is now doing this to him. "My decision is final." Code's entire being froze after hearing what Camilla had said. Black chains appeared and started wrapping his whole body, restricting his power and movement. "Why? Master, I'm your guardian. Your most trusted confidant! I want to protect you at all costs! Please! Please don't do this!" Code madly beg her, but Camilla coldly turned her back from his weeping figure. With an unreadable expression, Camilla carefully held the bottle containing the most vital ingredient, Blood Clover. This is the main ingredient she needs to successfully concoct the legendary pill. The pill that she's been studying ever since the nightmare that happened ten years ago. But this medicinal ingredient is highly combustible; she needs to ensure her fire's stability to prevent its explosive property from being triggered. This is the most crucial part since the formula did not state the exact measurement she'll need. Camilla slowly empties the red medicinal liquid stored in the bottle. The substance's color inside the cosmic furnace turned into an intense blood red and continuously changed into a color similar to lava. When the substance turned into dark red, the furnace began to tremble, a clear cracking sound was heard, followed by an earth-shattering explosion. Camilla was able to pull up her barrier using the defensive artifact she created. But without her space's power, its defensive attribute lessens almost in half. Powerful energy from the furnace fiercely slammed on her barrier, resulting in her body shooting like a bullet violently hitting a pillar. Camilla vomited a mouthful of blood after her protective barrier shattered like fragile glass. Seeing this scene, Code's mind went blank. His entire being suddenly emits an intense aura. The thick black smoke that oozed out from the cracks that slowly formed out of thin air rapidly engulfed his body. The black chains Camilla placed on Code's body slowly melted as the black smoke covered his tiny frame. When Code had finally removed the black chains that restricted his power, he skillfully sliced his chest open and inserted his hand. Code felt like he was electrocuted. While enduring the unimaginable torment, he is determined to proceed with his plan. "I'm sorry for disobeying you, master, but please ... live." Code apologetically said while carefully pulling out his hand, now holding a jet black pearl. His knees gave in, making him kneel with a loud thud. The black pearl shot towards Camilla's chest with a flick of his hand. A warm sensation spread within her, specifically her core. Her eyes widened in horror after realizing what Code planned to do. Camilla's panic-stricken eyes looked in his direction, hoping that she was wrong. But she would never expect to see a scene that would haunt her forever. Code activated a portal using the Interstellar's remaining energy, and with a pulling force, he drew out Camilla's core together with her soul while securely sending it to the portal. "No! No, please stop! Code, I'm begging you, don't do this!" Camilla cried hysterically, like a child being abandoned. But no matter how hard she screamed, no sound came out of her mouth. "Master, please live a life you've been dreaming of, a life away from darkness. Forget everything from the past and just focus on the future. Promise me that you will take good care of yourself. Don't let anyone bully you. Stop lazing around, and make sure to stop being stubborn." "Thank you for treating me like a family master. I'm happy to meet you in this lifetime." Code weakly said with a cracked voice while smiling sadly at her. His figure slowly turned into a cloud of dust together with the Interstellar space. "Code! No! Please don't!" Camilla agonizingly shouted. Her heart feels like it was being ripped into thousand pieces. So painful, so suffocating, such an unbearable gut-wrenching feeling that she can't even explain. When her soul successfully entered the portal, Camilla lost consciousness.
