The sun was shining bright through the window when I woke up. Don’t know how long I’d been sleeping. Felt like a hundred years. My stomach was rumbling. The bedroom door was shut, it didn’t look as if anyone had been in the room. When I remembered this was the first day of my convict assignment for this old Cullen fella I jumped out of bed. I was busting for a wee but had to put clothes on first. I pulled my dress over my head, pulled on my boots, and opened the bedroom door. I smelled food.
