THEO'S POV
I had dialed Hillary's line but it wasn't reachable, maybe she hadn't gotten home; I thought to myself.
"Hey Theo, come up", dis called out to me from up the stairs
"Take these, keep one for your yourself and give one to Mr Lewis", she said as she handed me a bag of well-packaged fish and chips
"Really, fish and chips", I said aloud
"Ya, fish and chips ', she replied while carefully locking up her room
"Off to somewhere", I asked as I noticed she was already dressed in a velvet satin dress "or off to a date?" I asked
She gave a loud laugh "you think I'm like you young play boy, out of my way, please ", she said with fury. I didn't know I'll hurt her by saying that and so had to apologize
"I'm sorry Brenda for that, didn't know you'ld be upset ", I said while moving down the stairs behind her
"Really sorry!, well I don't blame you, it's my playful self I blame ", she said as she got down to the parlor. I hadn't seen her this upset.
"yeah, I'm really sorry for saying that. It was just my way of saying you look really beautiful", I said while I noticed she had stopped walking
"When did little Theo learn how to use such words?" she asked and smiled "well, whatever you're forgiven and just so you know I'm not out for a date, I'm off to Scarlet's place, would be back in a jiffy", she said quickly and left.
I let out a sigh of relief and head out to Mr Lewiss' security post and gave him his portion of fish and chips.

I kept on pondering over my attitude towards Theodore, I didn't know what made me react that way, maybe it was because he made mention of the word date. I really didn't want anything to do with love and relationship after my first hea...NO, I shouldn't say first 'cos I wasn't expecting more. So, I really didn't want anything to do with love and relationship after my last heartbreak with James. We only dated for two and half months; thank goodness it wasn't for long but I had already fallen deeply in love with him only to discover that he had a fianceé. James was my first love. I met him at Fanshawe when I was in my final year. He was a German and had come over to see his grandma and aunts for sometime. He was a graduate of Robotic Engineering, I can't forget the incident that took place in which I was disgraced by his fiancee, that was actually a great fiasco. I blocked his contacts and means of communicating with me 'cause I didn't want anything to do with him.
"King's road'', I reminded the cab man
"Yh", he responded and brought the car to a halt "here we are Miss", he said and added "pay is just a dollar "
"Okay ", I said as I alighted and brought out his pay from my purse "thanks, I had a nice ride"
"Welcome", he said and zoomed off.
I had to stroll down the road for some minutes before I got to Scarlet's place, she was the only one who lived here with Irene. This was the only property her supposed relatives gave to her after her father's death; it was a small-sized duplex similar to ours. Her father actually had her by adoption, he raised her all alone, he wasn't married, he was a rich man who died of gastric cancer. This was the major reason why I had her as my best friend; because we shared similar life experiences.
Irene on the other hand is a Mexican blonde who didn't want anything to do with her stepmom who was now the only one available to care for her 'cause Irene's dad abandoned her with her two kids to care for and Irene. She just poured out all aggression on Irene and to the glory of God, Irene was a bright student, she got a scholarship to travel to Canada to school in any Winery college of her choice. That's how all three git to know each other; looks like we are caught into similar web.
I made a light tap at the gate and Irene opened up; this was the job Scarlet offered her to take good care of the environment. She paid her a handsome amount of fifteen dollars weekly with a bonus of two dollars, that us a total of sixty-two dollars a month. Irene loved the job and was committed to doing it always.
