After the hour long flight from Miami, Danny is glad to stretch her legs again. At least she had something to munch on during the flight. She grabs her backpack and handbag and heads to the door of the plane. Once out she gets a trolley and go to get her duffel bag and go to the arrivals waiting area where her dad would pick her up. She spots him and run. "Daddy! I've missed you."
"Come on dear, it wasn't that long." her father chuckles and hug her back. "Have you eaten yet?"
"Yeah, we got breakfast before I got on the plane. I can do with coffee though." Danny admits.
"Of course you can." He mumbles before saying out loud. "l know a quiet place where we can get that. We need to have a chat anyway." This makes Danny worried. He would usually take her out if the news is less than best news or a confession, but she just follows him silently.
Once at Dot's Diner, he opens the door for her and they sit at the booth close to the back, get coffee and then her dad clears his throat. "I know you know something is up. I don't want you to say anything until I'm done. Okay?"
Danny nods. Not much else she can do.
"Let's start at the beginning. I am a werewolf. I haven't said anything, because I was afraid you wouldn't want me around anymore. Your mother wanted to raise you outside a pack in case you might feel left out. So we left, I became a rogue and we had you. We were happy. When I got the transfer here, I had to call the current Alpha and let him know that I'm back. He didn't want us living among humans so we will be living in his pack. Alpha Neill wasn't a very nice person when we last met and his wife can be a b***h. but his son is due to take over any day now so untill then you finish your senior year and stay out of their way." he said sadly. "Any questions?"
Danny is frozen in shock. She gestured to the waiter for more coffee and once she got it she asked. "Well... Yes. Since all werewolves have a job in the pack, what is yours? Will you continue working for the police? How do you know the Alpha and Luna so personally? Where will we live? Why didn't you ever tell me? When do you shift? Am I part werewolf? Why don't I have a wolf?"
"Trust you to ask the hard questions." Jackson laughs. "I'll be a pack warrior so no more policing for me. The Alpha is my nephew, your cousin. They got some housing near the edge of the forest where we could stay. I didn't want you to think it's your fault or feel like you shouldn't be with us. I have been shifting at night when you sleep. The rest of the answers I would rather tell you when we get home. It should stay between us."
Danny frowns, "Is it why I never saw mum do magic?" The look on Jackson's face is the only answer she needs. "Let's get home." she says standing up.
It's a long drive out to the bayou. Danny is mulling the conversation in her head. I'm a werewolf. Why didn't she shift? This is so confusing and she doesn't even know the half of it. Before she knew it she fell asleep with about twenty questions in her mind.
"Hi, sweety," Amelia said softly. Danny runs to her mother crying. They stand like that for a while Amelia just holding her. "I take it your father hasn't told you all of it yet."
"All of it?" Danny asks sniffling looking up into the beautiful blues of her mother.
"Yes." Unsure of how to continue, Amelia looks at her hands.
Danny frowns, "You can tell me anything, Mum."
Amelia takes a long deep breath, "I want to start with, your father and I love you very much, and nothing will ever change that."
"Mom, you're scaring me."
"We found you, when you were a baby. Newborn. You will always be my daughter though. From the day I saw you. You seemed human at the time so to raise you, your father and I decided to do it on our own." Amelia says. Silence followed. Danny was crying. Amelia started crying seeing her child so hurt. "Please, sweety, say something... Anything."
"You're not my real mother?" Danny asks heartbroken.
"No sweety. I'm not, but in all the ways that count, I still see you and love you as my own." Amelia says. "Now it's time for you to wake up. I love you."
"I love you too, mum. You are still my mother no matter what." Danny mumbles as Jackson wakes her up. "Where are we?" She says looking around her. They are in front of a huge mansion with probably about 70 rooms. A man with brown hair and a bit of grey in it is standing outside. His Ice cold glare freezing her as she gets out of the car. He's only a bit shorter than her dad and still manage to look like he is staring them down. Judging. Finding them not worth his precious time.
"That's Beta Xavier. I'll tell you about him when we get home."
Danny shrugs and the beta grunts motioning for them to follow. They do but don't have time to look around as he's going just fast enough for them to keep up with a speedwalk. Before long they stand in a corridor with a big brown door with steel handles. He knocks and then open the door. The office in front of them had wooden floors with a round mat. A big oak desk with a laptop and papers and stationary scattered on it. Behind it a cabinet with liquor and files and potted plants on top. In front of the desk is two leather chairs and behind it another brown leather chair and on it is who Danny believes is the Alpha and Luna.
The Alpha is pale with red hair and eyes that looks like he can freeze you with one look. He is wearing a pair of jeans, a green gholf shirt and a black leather jacket. The Luna sitting on his lap has short brown hair and chocolate brown eyes which could deceive anyone. She was barefoot with a red strapless dress ending in the middle of her thigh.
"That's Alpha Neill and Luna Marietta." Jackson says bowing his head in submission. So I was correct. Danny thought to herself bowing her head and hating it. The Luna stands up after a silent conversation with her mate. She puts on the highest black heels Danny has ever seen.
"Can I send you something up to drink, Babe?" she asks purposefully ignoring the guests right in front of her.
"Thanks, sugar. Anything for you guys before we talk?"
"No, thanks Alpha." Danny said quickly not wanting to bother the woman who clearly didn't want to bring them anything to start with. Jackson just nods his head in agreement.
"We won't be long anyway, I still want to show Danielle the house before starting lunch and we want to get her settled." Jackson explains to which Alpha Neill nods.
"Well then, I trust your father explained the rules, but let me make it clear. None of your witchy voodoo stuff. Got it? Any practices of magic is done in the forest. There is a clearing in the forest I showed your father that's already spelled to make sure nothing happens to the forest and that no one can find it. You will not threaten my pack. If you do you are banished. Hurt a pack member and I will personally kill both you and your father. Got it?" Witchy voodoo stuff? Seriously? but Danny simply nods her head and bows so the Alpha can't see how pissed she is. "Well... uhm... good. Dismissed." and with that father and daughter walks out past the Luna, bowing as they do.
They get in the car and drive towards the house. It's mainly surrounded by trees so they have so much privacy it's almost as if the Alpha put them there to hide them. The house is a 2 storey Victorian style with a wrap around porch. "It's beautiful." Danny says mesmerized.
"Wait till you see the inside." Jackson says excitedly while taking Danny's bag out of the trunk of the car. "Come on, what are you waiting for?" He throws his arm over her shoulder and she puts her arm around his waist.
"Let's get going!" Danny is getting excited. She loves the privacy despite the Alpha's so called intentions. As they walk in Danny sees an open plan living room and kitchen. It's great but Danny sees immediately it would be best if she redecorate the whole house. "I've got a lot to do, don't I?"
Her dad chuckles. "Your mother said the same thing when she walked into my house the first time. I suck at decorating. Spent the whole day moving everything to where your mother wanted it. She would change her mind a million times a day." He smiles fondly at the memory.
Danny also laughs. "We can do it this afternoon." She states following her dad up the stairs to her room.
"After lunch." Jackson agrees. She goes into her room and Jackson leaves to make lunch. She doesn't need rest that badly and starts packing her clothes into the white built-in cupboard.
Next she goes downstairs as the smells of her dad's grill cheese fills her nose. "Smells great dad!" Danny yells and I kid you not he jumped 4 inches almost dropping the spatula on the ground. She laughs. He growls playfully, putting the plate with 2 grilled sandwiches in front of her. "So dad, what were you thinking about that I could scare you so easily."
He turns serious. "Have a seat I gotta tell you something." Danny frowns sitting on one of the chairs by the counter. "I'm not you real father."
"Yes, are." Danny says laughing knowing where this is going.
"No, Amelia and I found you as a baby."
"I know and like I said, you are still my dad. You're not getting off the hook that easily." Danny says and for the first time since her mother's death she sees tears in her father's eyes. So she gets up and go hug him. "It may not be your DNA that made me to be here, but it's thanks to you that I am who I am today, Dad."
"How did you know?" he asks once he calmed down.
"Mom told me when I was asleep on the way over here." She states matter-of-factly.
"Trust you mom to find a way to make this easy on me." Jackson smiles. "I love you."
"I love you too. Now let's finish up we got a lot to do, okay?" They finish eating and put their plates in the dishwasher. At least they don't have to worry about the kitchen. They rest of the day they are placing their living room furniture where it should be. The 3 seater has its back to the doorway. a backless couch under the windows, 2 one seaters across from it. The wall unit across the 3 seater with all the electronics, photos and knick knacks. The carpet and coffee table in the middle. And Mom's favourite vase on the coffee table. Next they head to the kitchen and pack out the boxes and Jackson's shopping from that morning. In about 3 hours the complete bottom storey is done.
"So food first or rooms first." Jackson asks smiling.
"Food" Danny groans. "And coffee."
"Pizza?" Jackson asks.
"Duh. We both worked hard as it is. No cooking." Danny state smiling. "Just let me take a shower first." She asks heading upstairs. A few minutes later she comes down. She just put her clothes on the bed, ready to wear again not to get her dress dirty when they continue after dinner. "Let's go." She says skipping out the door. Jackson just follows her laughing and starts the car when they are in. At the pizza place they place their order and eat quietly and head back. "Just gonna put on what I wore and then we can get started with the rooms." She got dressed and came out.
"Let's start at one end and then we can finish with my room?" Danny nods. The two spare rooms first. Double bed in the middle with end tables on each side. They make the beds and pack out the linens. Then her room. They move the dresser and bed in their place. She packed out most of her stuff already and will pack out the rest when they finished her dad's room. They sort out the items in Jackson's room then she left to pack out the rest of her stuff into her cupboards and the dresser and her bathroom and Jackson does the same for his room. "Danny, can you help me with the curtains?" he calls.
"Sure, dad. Just finishing mine quickly." she puts on the last part and gets of the ladder. her room finally the purple fantasy she wanted it to be. She takes the ladder to her dad's room and puts his up too. Everything was done by 7:30. "I am tired."
"Me too. I'm glad we're done. Tomorrow we gotta find you a car and do shopping for school."
"Yes, dad." Danny said rolling her eyes. "I'm just gonna call Jamie." Let her know what's happening. It might end up with a group chat." Danny says grabbing a snack a a dr pepper.
"Okay, honey. I'm just gonna go pass out I guess." Jackson says tiredly. They head up to their rooms, where they bid each other goodnight.
Danny calls Jamie. "Hey b***h!" Jamie answers on the first ring.
"Hi, Jamie." Danny says opening a packet of pretzels. "How are you?"
"I'm good. Tell me everything!"
"So turns out my parents are werewolves, they aren't my biological parents, we are living in a pack the beta has a broomstick all the way up his ass, the Alpha is a douche and the Luna is a w***e. I think that's about it." Jamie doesn't know if she wants to laugh or cry.
"Only you can give that amount of info so blasé. Like yeah my parents aren't human or witch like we thought and they aren't even my real parents and you don't even give me a chance to react to that. Are you okay? It must've been a real shocker."
"It was at first, but then I realised it doesn't matter. I mean think about it, they raised me. They helped shape my personality. I love them, they love me. What does it matter who gave birth to me? It's not like it would change the fact the they are my parents and I am their daughter."
"Makes sense. I guess. And the Alpha and Luna?" Jamie asks worried.
"Luna Marietta looks like a w***e I wish you could see her. The Alpha is trying to hide us, but I live the fact that our house is separate and basically in the woods. He had a special clearing made for me to practice in. Spelled to keep magic in. No idea how. I wish I could meet the witch with that ability. I mean keeping magic out is easy, but a reverse spell to keep magic in a specific area is a complete different story."
"Oh... My... Goodness!!!" Jamie says. "I'll ask miss Walters about it and get back to you ASAP. By the way I think they the are horrible and you should steer clear."
"I agree." Danny says. "Wanna get the rest of the group on the chat with us?"
"Sure." Jamie says and starts inviting all of the others. "Hi guys." She says when they all join.
"Hi guys." Danny says.
"Danny!" they all said.
"So how about a tour?" Danny said switching her camera from selfie mode. "This is my room." She says showing them around.
"It looks great." Alice said.
"Thanks." And so they go through the whole house to end back in her room.
"So 4 bedrooms means we can visit two at a time? Except for Jamie cause her parents won't let her go alone." Ashley states.
"Pretty much, yeah." Danny confirms.
"Cool. Me first!" Jamie yells and everyone laughs.
"Yeah well, gotta get the rooms and house protected and soundproofed." Danny sighs. "I'll talk to my dad about it tomorrow. He should be able to keep your mom and dad busy during the day so we can perform the spell."
Jamie nods. "I'll talk to my parents then we could come for the first week. the rest can rotate for 3 to 4 days each."
"Why do you get more time?" Luke complains.
"Because I'm her main girl and we got magic and stuff to do." Jamie said.
"No fair. I wish I got magic powers." he sulks.
"And live with the burden of the council?" Danny asks.
"Nevermind." Luke says quickly causing everyone to laugh. The grou chat lasted well into the night till Danny says she's tired and wants to go to sleep. They all said goodnight and she climbs into her covers having a great dreamless sleep.
The next morning Danny wakes up to the smell of waffles and pancakes and most importantly coffee. She stretches and stand up wondering for a few moments where she was when yesterday's memories come flooding back. She gets up, take a shower, brush her teeth, gets dressed and go downstairs. "Hey dad. Smells good." Danny says filling her and Jackson's cups with coffee.
"Morning, honey." Jackson says plating their food. "Bon appetit. Enjoy."
"Thanks dad." Danny says taking her plate and giving her dad's coffee to him. She takes a bite. "Mmmm... just like mom used to make."
"Who do you think taught me? Now eat up, we have a lot to do today." Jackson says sitting down and starting to eat as well.
"Uhm... Dad?" Danny says.
"Yeah sweety?"
"If my friends wanted to visit, how would that work?"
"We would have to let the Alpha know, but it shouldn't be a problem. Who wants to come, when and how long?"
"Jamie and her parents, Monday and for a week. We would need you to keep her parents busy, Jamie and I want to do the spell we did at the flat to make the house magic free so we can't use our various supernatural abilities in here." Danny explains.
"Ah... Well, I will speak to the Alpha about both. So you guys haven't told them yet?" Jackson asks curiously.
"No, and we won't. I don't want her parents to force her to submit to the witches council. We found out about some dealings that was definitely not in the best interest of other supernaturals and we are completely against it."
"Why don't you go to the supernatural council with it?" Jackson asks as they finish up.
"We don't have proof and the adults wouldn't believe us over the council." Danny explained. "We will get the proof we need, but we can't be outed before that."
"Okay, honey. I will support you. Always. Now are you ready?" Jackson asks.
Danny gulps the last of her coffee. "Yep. Let's get this over with." Danny says putting the plates and the cups in the dishwasher with all the other dishes and turns it on. They walk out of the house and get into the car.
"Let's do the whole shopping thing first and then we can get your car." Jackson says turning into the Mall. They went in went to a stationary shop and bought what was on the list. Glitter pens, a purple backpack, highlighters, pens, pencils, art supplies and textbooks. Danny also got a few things to customize her books and plastic as well. Next they went to a car dealership where Danny saw the most adorable little Kia Rio in royal blue. "Do you like that one?" Jackson asked.
"It's so cute!!" Danny replies not taking her eyes off it. They left to do the paperwork and insurance. And she was very excited to receive the keys to her brand new car. She got in and looked around at the leather interior with blue accents. Loving the feel and the new car smell. She starts it up and follows her dad home.
She gets out and puts the new cover over it to protect it from leaves and twigs. "Thanks, Daddy." She says kissing her dad's cheek.
"Do you like it?" Jackson says knowing her answer but liking her smile.
"I love it! Did you hear it purr Daddy? It's amazing! And it feels like it was made for me." Danny says excitedly.
"I'm gonna get Dinner ready. I'll see you later." Jackson says heading inside.
Danny takes the cover back off after her father went inside. "Chraňte tuto kočku a všechny v ní před jakýmikoli nadpřirozenými útoky." She says with her hand on the car until it stops glowing. She takes a pic and send it to the group chat with the caption "Just did the spell too." With that she covered the car again and went inside and personalised the books, putting it and her stationary in her backpack. People may think it's childish, but Danny loves her backpacks.
She went downstairs just in time for dinner. "Dad, I want to show you what I did to my books."
"Sounds ominous." Jackson said laughing.
"I promise it's still in one piece." Danny says. "I need you to just set up my printer to my laptop as well please."
"Will do sweetheart." Jackson says. "I'll do it while you finish up the dishes. I spoke to Alpha Neill and unfortunately only Jaime and her parents can come, He doesn't want to many people coming into the territory. The rest may need to sleep in the human town and not come here until we have proven ourselves."
"Well maybe when I'm stronger I can do a barrier spell to check the intentions of those who enter here. It should help a lot." Danny says.
"If he lets you. He doesn't seem too excited about the spell you are putting on the house."
"He wouldn't be. Remember it reduces anyone in this house to human level. What he probably doesn't know is this being a magic neutral zone it probably would break any spell as long as the person is in here. I wish I could do it on my own, but I'm not strong enough on my own." Danny says nodding.
"Think we should tell him?" Jackson says worried.
"Nah, it wouldn't make a difference in his case, Just keep following his orders then he shouldn't have a problem with the spell. He should only have an issue if we don't follow his orders and if others stops. This spell is stronger than an Alpha command for a reason." Danny explains. "Let's eat, I'm starving." Danny starts eating as do Jackson, both realised they missed lunch.
After dinner, Jackson sits in the living room with coffee, leaving Danny to do the dishes. After that Danny joins her dad and they play board games till about 9:30. "I'm gonna turn in. Don't go to bed too late." Jackson says with a wink.
Danny goes upstairs and calls the group. "Hi guys."
"Hi Danny." Ashley says.
"Any updates?" Jamie asks.
"Alpha doesn't want too many guests here, but dad explained the need and he agreed to let Jamie and her parents come. Anyone else can come but not into the territory." Danny explains.
"That sucks." Ashley said.
"He's the boss, nothing we can do." Danny shugs.
"Maybe we can come next year?" Ashley suggest.
"I hope so. What did your parents say, Jamie?"
"We are buying tickets tomorrow. Just wanted to know what the Alpha said first." Jamie says.
"Perfect. Let me know how it goes and when you board, I'll come pick you guys up from the airport." The conversation goes casual and a half an hour later they say goodnight.
