I took off my shoes and lay next to her on top of the covers, watching as she slept.
I saw the panic leave her eyes as I lay on the pillows next to her, watching her eyes slowly close as her hand tightly held mine. I observed how her features became serene and completely relaxed as she fell into a deep sleep. After a while, sleep also took hold of me as I watched her breathing slowly, her long eyelashes brushing against her pale skin and her beautiful mouth slightly open. I felt such strange sensations realizing that I had almost lost her forever, again, and shuddered.
For a moment, I found myself wondering how I would feel if I lost her again.
