SILAS' POV:
"Silas?" I look up at Harlow relieved.
"Yes, Harlow? How is she? Am I allowed to see her now?" I asked all at once.
She held up a hand tiredly. How could I have been so careless? She must be exhausted. Drained even. I jumped up quickly and grabbed a chair, pulling her from the doorway to sit down for a moment. She smiled at the action. "Thank you. Yes, she is okay. I am still a little hesitant to let her roam. But, I am going to try it. For your sake." She warned. "All of this is still new to her. so give her space. But not too much space. I am sure she wants to see you. Despite what she has been told, like a wounded dog to its owner, she will come back. She still seems to think it is true. I can tell from the look on her face. But she still cares for you. Deeply."
I couldn't help the smile I felt rising. The excitement. Like a child on Christmas morning. "It is good to hear that she is alright. But are you okay? It seems you need a little rest."
She smiled warmly. "I will be getting plenty of rest. I came to ask. I know I am vital to you. Bu the next two days, I need to regain my strength. I wish to not be disturbed. For anything. Surely the great vampire king can grant his old friend that?" She laughed a bit.
"Of course. Name it, you got it." I assured her.
"A member of my coven will hang around here while I am away. If you need anything please reach out to them. Every member of the coven will be around to assist as need be. They can handle my absence for two days." She laughed a little.
"Of course they can. Now, off you go. Thank you for helping her through this." I smiled a little.
"In a rush to see your bride?" She pokes my side playfully. "I won't keep you then. Don't let her do anything too tiring. Her training starts when I return."
I nod helping her from her seat and ushering her out of the door. As she leaves, I turn back to my desk and put my things away for the night. Given she had slept two days I was hoping that she would be up a little bit longer. I hurried with my clean up and quickly left my study. I walked down the hall quickly, maybe we can have dinner together. It is getting late, but hell, she hasn't eaten in two days. As I round the corner, I stop at her door. My mind racing. What if this was the one thing Harlow was wrong about? That would be my f*****g luck. My heart started to sink at the thought. I swallowed hard and knocked lightly.
"Come in." The most angelic voice I had ever heard announced.
I walked in slowly. The second my eyes fell on her, my heart melted. I had craved to be in her presence for so long now and here we were. She was finally mine. All mine. Well, hopefully, anyway. "Princess, are you hungry? I was thinking we could grab some dinner." I asked, unable to hide the hope in my voice.
She looked at me hesitantly. Like she was afraid to answer. She took a deep breath and smiled. "Dinner sounds perfect. Let me get dressed?"
I smiled at the request. "Of course. I will wait outside your door. If you need anything let me know?"
She nodded as I left, closing the door behind me so she could have her privacy. I waited outside for what seemed like hours, but in reality, was only 5 minutes when she walked out in a purple sweatshirt and a pair of grey yoga pants, wearing only socks. God, she was adorable. "Are you ready?" I asked her.
She smiled. "Yes. What were you thinking for dinner?" She asked curiously.
"Well, I was hoping you would have a suggestion." I laughed a little. "What about hamburgers? Maybe some fries?"
Her eyes lit up like a child. "That sounds heavenly."
I laughed as we continued to walk through the castle. We finally arrived at the kitchen, the cook was busy getting pans out. I smile a little. "When I don't come down during normal hours this saint of a woman waits so she can be sure I eat."
Thana smiles. "If I don't, you won't eat. But when you know I am down here, you always come around. It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Blakely."
Blakely smiled. "That is sweet. It is lovely to meet you as well." Every time she spoke it sent chills down my spine. I had never loved the sound of something more.
I smile softly. "Make us your famous burgers and fries?"
She laughs. "Of course. If you keep this up you will turn into a big fry." She laughed as she got her supplies ready.
I couldn't help but laugh. She was right. Maybe I do eat too many fries. I watched Blakely from the corner of my eye, and she started to seem a little nervous. Constantly looking around like she needed to watch her back. I immediately turned my full attention to her. "What's wrong? Tell me what is on your mind?"
She looked at me trying to hide the worry and pain behind her eyes, but I noticed that look instantly. "Will your wife mind you being here with me?"
I looked at her baffled. "Wife? I don't understand. Who told you I had married?"
She looked at me confused. "Dad, he said that you...that you found a suitable queen to marry. Someone you could love. He said that...the letters, all of your kind words, were a lie." I heard her voice c***k as she said this. My heart shattered. Thana even stopped what she was doing.
I looked at Blakely. The pain she had to endure. Both emotional and physical. I felt tears burn my eyes as I felt the pain radiating from her. "Baby. I would never lie to you. I was never married. I never even looked at another woman. You were the only one on my mind. I would not have gone through all of this just to get you back had I found happiness elsewhere. I know you won't believe me instantly. Nor do I have your trust. But I hope to earn it. I want to undo everything he has done. Make you forget all of the pain he has caused you. Forgive me, my love. For not being there sooner." I watched as a single tear slid down her cheek. I wiped it away softly and watched her. "Everything I said was the truth. It still is the truth. I love you."
Her eyes brought back a single spark of light. The light I fell in love with long ago. "You're right, earning my trust will be hard. I don't want to be hurt again." She swallowed hard. "How are Jade and Adrien?"
"Oh god. You don't know?" My voice came out like a broken whisper. "Of course you don't know."
She looked at me and tried to even her breathing. Probably trying to control her emotions. "What happened? Silas? Talk to me. Please."
"Your father...he..." For known reasons, I couldn't will the words to come. I went silent trying so hard to fight the memory and the pain.
Thana cleared her throat. Pain radiating off of her as well. She set the plates down and looked at me with pity in her eyes. "Your father brought some of his men here, and he killed them. Last year. On the day you were supposed to wed. He had it planned. He probably didn't tell you, because it would be a reason to remove him from the throne."
Blakely's eyes grew wide. "I...oh my god. Silas, I had no idea." I watched her wince. Her skin radiating with such heat. I knew what was happening. She was losing control. I had to get ahold of the reins quick. I laid my hand on hers and turned towards her snapping out of my painful memories. I can shut down later. Now, she needs me. "Baby girl. Look at me. It is not your fault. We will make him pay for this and for what he had done to you. It will be okay. But for now, I need you to pull in your emotions. Please." I watched her as she spaced out again. "Baby, come back to me."
--------BLAKELY'S POV:
I felt the familiar fire running through my veins as my heart plummeted into my chest. My father...killed innocent people. People I cared for so deeply. People who treated me as their own. They were killed in cold blood. I felt tears streaming down my face. The fire intensifying.
I felt his hand grip mine as he pleaded. His pleas sounded so muffled. "Baby, come back to me."
My eyes locked on his. I tried so hard to focus on breathing. Tried so hard to keep everything at bay. He looked panicked. That was the last thing I wanted. To hurt him. I couldn't reel in these feelings. I couldn't get a hold on my power. I felt them about to burst out of me. Then I felt it. His lips crashed into mine in a desperate plea to bring me back to earth. My power started to die down. It was working. He kissed me deeply. His tongue tracing my bottom lip slowly. I began to kiss back, not wanting him to stop. The burning dulled to small heat. And just like that, it was gone. As I came back to my senses, to the reality of the situation, it dawned on me that his lips were finally on mine.
He pulled away after a moment and looked in my eyes with such hunger. I blushed watching him. "I am so sorry. The news...it took me by surprise." I apologized out of breath. I looked at him embarrassed. "I thought...weren't we supposed to be married before a kiss?" Immediately I felt humiliated at bringing it up.
I felt even more humiliated as he laughed. "I forgot. Humans are the only species and kingdom that do that whole courting thing. Most go by living in the moment. Forgive me." He smiled brushing my hair behind my ear.
I felt my cheeks get hot. "I kind of like that better anyway." I laugh a little.
He smiles the warmest smile I had ever seen. "Let's eat baby girl." He smiled as we began to eat the delicious food prepared for us. "Thank you for coming back to me, my love."
