EVERETT'S POV
Those f*****g bloodsuckers. They took my tongue. They took Eldric's life, now I had no suitable heir. They turned my own daughter against me. That traitorous b***h! How dare she after everything I have done for her? All the opportunities I provided? Just so she could stab me in the back. Those leeches would pay. Every. f*****g. One. Of. Them.
I scream and slam my chair back at my desk. I will kill them all! Brett walked in looking at me nervously. God his pathetic face really pissed me off. "My king, can I help you with anything." He asked looking concerned.
I rolled my eyes. He knew damned well I couldn't speak. I nod slowly. I grabbed my notebook from my desk and began scribbling words angrily across the paper. "Bring Axton to me."
He nodded quickly and left the room as I picked my chair up off the floor. He returned 5 minutes later with Axton trailing behind him. "My king?" Axton said bowing respectfully.
I sit down and motion him to sit in front of the desk. He does so willingly, yet seemingly nervous. He is lucky I can stand to be in his presence. I roll my eyes and scribble on the notebook."SO it seems I have two choices." I stop writing and look at Brett. I angrily motion for him to leave. As he leaves I finish writing. "I can go on like this. Or, I can find a witch."
He nods as he reads it silently. "Sire. The decision is up to you. It's a pick your poison type of thing."
I sigh and write again. "If I chose that route, where would we even go to receive a witch?" I watch him curiously.
"May I speak freely without punishment?" Axton asked watching me.
My lips formed a thin line and my jaw clenched as I gritted my teeth. I nod slowly at his request and usher him to go on.
"Well, my king, there are covens of witches in every kingdom, except ours. Even vampires have one. But since our attack on King Adrien and his wife, it would be hard for you in particular to obtain one. But it is always possible. But going to another supernatural kingdom is out of the question. The dragon shifters won't help. The wolves won't help. We would have to go to the original kingdom of magic. Akasha." Axton stated honestly. Although I knew he was right, him to speak such things about those...abominations to me irritated my very soul. Who cares if the supernatural world hated me? I would burn their kingdoms to the f*****g ground. He noted my rage quickly and tried to retract his statement. "But, I think we could find one. There is bound to be one the vampires have wronged."
I nodded quickly and continued to write. "Very well. Gather my things. Grab Hayden, Amias, and Alcide. It will be a long journey. We leave in the morning."
With a wave of my hand, he was gone. It looks like I would have to go to that dreaded place. Hell on earth. Akasha, here I f*****g come.
--------SILAS' POV:
I step back confused. "Wh...what?! How is that even possible?" I looked at her shocked. "Harlow. She was born of human blood."
"Honestly? I do not know my king. It was strange to me too. But when I first laid eyes on her, I knew she was different. That is what I am trying to figure out. I need to get in touch with my contact in Eudaimonia." She answered looking just as confused as I was.
"Speaking of that. Why did you not tell me the witch was her?" I asked, wondering why it had to be kept secret.
"Plausible deniability. You have to understand my king. I will give my all to you, but I will not sacrifice my own." She answered honestly.
"I would never ask you to," I said smiling a little at the great amount of loyalty she showed. I felt immense pride for my advisor at that moment.
She smiles and nods in understanding. "Just so you know, Blakely still doesn't know. So we need to move her to a bed while she is asleep. She needs a room by herself. Her powers will fluctuate. She will be a danger to you and others. I will remain by her side to control them as I can. But I can not guarantee anything. She will be so confused and frightened." She pauses a moment. "In this day and age, a witch without a coven is not safe. She would be hunted. I am willing to accept her into mine."
I smiled at her gratefully. "Well, she is lucky to have you, as are we all. I truly do not know what I would do without you by my side."
She smiles at me. "I know. You would die." She laughs.
"Do you know when she will wake?" I ask hopefully.
She shakes her head slightly. "It could be today, could be days. Her powers have been bound since birth. So it was a b***h and a half to unbind them."
I nodded pretending to understand any of that. "I will leave you to it." I didn't like the thought of not being there through it all, but in truth, I would only get in the way. I needed to trust Harlow to keep her safe and get her through this. So I walked away, fighting the urge to turn back around. "Her room is already set up, I trust you know which one it is," I called over my shoulder before rounding the corner.
I walk into my study and quietly shut the door. I sit at my desk patiently and leave myself to my thoughts. How is that possible? A witch born to the human king? And who bound her powers? Was it to protect her? From him? These were questions I needed to answer. I lay my head in the palm of my hands and heaved a disappointed sigh. I stood remembering the book dad had shown me when I first became engaged to Blakely. A book based on her country. The book just so happened to have her family tree. Maybe there was some kind of witch ancestry in her bloodline.
I looked through all of the books until I finally found it. I knew this book word for word, I wanted to impress Blakely so bad that I took it upon myself to memorize all of Eudaimonia history. I even wanted to throw a traditional human wedding for her. I sat at my desk quickly and flipped through the pages. My hands tracing every word and line of the family tree close to the back of the book. But of course, not witches in the royal family. Unless...Blakely wasn't actually royal blood? Then again, she was listed in all family records. Typically when a royal is born, they do a paternity test to determine birthright to the throne. Surely they wouldn't have messed it up. I quickly removed the small conspiracy from my mind and sat back closing my eyes. No need to make mountains out of molehills I suppose.
--------Two days later
BLAKELY'S POV:
I could hear everything happening around me. There was just one problem. I couldn't will myself to move, my eyes wouldn't even open. But boy could I hear EVERYTHING.
"Like I told you, Silas. It could take days. It has only been two. I calculate it would take almost a week at least. She is powerful. It took a lot for me to completely unbind her. And that takes a lot out of a person." I heard Harlow say.
"Are you sure she will be alright? I can not find a single witch in her bloodline." Silas said. He actually sounded concerned.
Wait. Witch?
"My contact won't tell me. She won't even tell me who bound her. Plausible deniability." Harlow answered him. "But finding out how it happened is the least of our worries. Getting her power under her control is the most important thing."
Come on. Move. Just a finger. The rest should come after. I willed myself. But nothing. Move! And just like that, I felt my fingers tap the bed. My eyes fluttered open. I winced as the bright lights in the room hurt my suddenly living senses. I groaned as my body came to life. Suddenly both of them turned to look at me in surprise.
"Blakely?" Silas said looking confused. "Are you okay?"
I nodded as I gave up with sitting and decided to just plop back onto the bed. "Wh...what happened?"
"Silas, leave us now. See she is alive and well. I will handle it from here." Harlow ordered.
I heard Silas heave a sigh. "Fine. But if she needs anything, I better be the first to know."
She nodded in agreement and pushed him out the door quickly. She turned toward me and pulled herself up a seat next to the bed. "Tell me. How much of that did you hear?"
I laughed a little. "Cutting right to the chase huh? Nothing that I understood honestly. Some clarification would be nice."
She smiled seeming a little worried. "Alright. Here we go. Blakely, you are a witch. To be honest, I knew something was off about you the second I saw you two nights ago."
"Wait. Two nights? I have been out for two nights? I am a witch?!" I said, hearing the obvious panic in my voice. I felt the panic rising. I felt heat pulsing through my veins begging to be set free. It felt electrifying. Like something inside of me suddenly awoke.
Harlow noted the sensation quickly and placed her hand on my abdomen. I felt a sudden cooling effect, like ice, rushing into my veins. "Blakely. Keep your emotions in check." She said never removing her hand. "When you walked in, I felt a source of power coming from you that I couldn't place. I let that go and thought it wasn't worth looking into. Until I assessed your abuse anyway. Then I realized there was a spell. A binding spell that bound your power deep within, so that no one would know.
I don't know why exactly. It is a very risky business to do something like that. Considering when a witch turns 18 her powers grow. If that happens during the spell's existence, the power will search for an outlet. It will combust within your body. It would kill the witch the spell was cast upon. So whoever did it either had that in mind and would let it run the coarse, or they thought they could get you somewhere safe before then and remove it themselves.
I need to train you to control them though. As things are right now, they are fluctuating as a newborn would. So with very intense emotion, they will find a way out. You could hurt someone. So you have two options. Please choose the right one. You can control your emotions, thus keeping tabs on your power, or, god forbid, you stay in this room as a prisoner until I can train you. I don't want that for you. But considering you being close to the king, that would put him in danger. And I will not sacrifice him for your happiness." She looked at me concerned.
I swallowed hard thinking about my next words carefully. "I will control my emotions. If I feel it coming on, I will come here. Or somewhere far away from him. I understand. I am confused, but I understand." I said sitting up slowly.
She smiles a little. "I am happy you do. I would love to train you asap. But it will need to wait. I have been using all of my strength to keep you at bay. I need to rest. Give me two days and we will train. Keep stable till then. A member of our coven will be around at all times to keep an eye out while I regain strength."
"Our coven?" I asked confused.
"Yes. Our coven. I forgot to mention. A witch without a coven can be in danger. Hunters, humans, things like that. You are under my protection now princess. Welcome to the Astral Coven." She smiles warmly walking away.
