BLAKELY'S POV:
I couldn't stop staring at the beautiful ring on my hand the whole ride. It was a jade-colored gemstone from his mother. I couldn't believe he had asked me to be his. His forever, his wife, and his Queen. My only wish was that mom could be here to see it. I was trying so hard to push her death from my mind and get ready for the war Silas was sure was coming. Which, given the vindictive man my dad is, I do not doubt he has plans to attack. Mom's death was a sure sign of that.
I had only heard mear rumor of the wolves in Lycansbane. I always heard Leo, the Alpha king, was a cruel monster. But from the way Silas spoke, the opposite was true. Apparently, he was kind and a very good friend of Adrien. I could only hope he would show the same welcoming opened arms to me that he would Silas instead of him holding my father's transgressions against me. Wolves had a horrible temperament. They were hard to calm when angry and very easy to get angry. So many worries swirled in my mind, but the one calming thing I had was looking at this ring.
It assured me that no matter what happened today, Silas would protect me. Out of respect for Leo, Silas decided not to bring any of his guards. He said it could offend the king to think the son of his dear friend would not trust him. I admired the respect Silas had for a king he only met a few times when he was little.
The sun was finally starting to rise. I watched as we came close to the bridge. We left Ambrogio early yesterday morning and I could not be happier to be getting out of this car soon. Thank god everything seemed to be going fine. The driver hadn't stopped all night. Silas had promised him he could sleep when we arrived so I could only imagine his eagerness.
Suddenly the car jerked to a rapid halt and I lunged forward with the motion. My head hitting the back of the driver's seat. I cried out surprised as I leaned back. I heard Silas growl next to me.
"Aleron. Why did you stop like that?! You hurt her!" he screamed from next to me. His hands immediately touching my head. "Baby, forgive his ignorance, he will be dealt with. Are you okay?"
I nod quickly trying to focus my vision. "It made me a little dizzy. I am okay though. DOn't be mad at him. Perhaps there was a reason for the quick stop." I said wincing as I looked out the window.
Silas leaned up as Aleron spoke. "Sire, I don't know where they came from."
"Blakely stay in the car. Aleron, I assume you still know how to fight. Stay here and keep her safe. If anything happens to her I will rip your head off." He said getting out of the car before I could react.
"Aleron...what is happening?" I said as my voice began to break with fear.
"Rogues." Was all he responded with.
I froze. All I could think about was Silas being killed by them. He said rogues as in plural. Silas had no men here, he would be outnumbered. Tears burned my eyes as I mindlessly opened my car door. I didn't have a plan when I got out of the car, I still didn't know how to use my magic...but I wouldn't let him fight alone.
"Miss, no!" I heard Aleron's voice as I stepped out of the car.
I heard his door open behind me not long after. I hadn't even realized I was walking until I heard it shut. Silas turned his head to glance at me over his shoulder. "Dammit Aleron, I can not trust you to do anything!"
"Sir, she is so stubborn. Forgive me." He said, his voice coming out as a whisper.
As I was taking in the scene around me, there the men stood in their human forms. The one I assumed to be the leader of these rogues stepped forward. He smoothed back his jet black hair. "Well, what do we have here? A vampire and a witch." He laughs. "Boys, I think they lost their way. Shall we remind them?"
A low growl escaped from Silas. "I am King..." Before he could finish the leader cut them off.
"Oh, I know who you are. The poor Orphan King of Ambrogio. Yet...I can't find a single f**k to give. In case you haven't noticed, you are in our territory now. And unfortunately for you...you came here alone." He smirked stepping forward a little more.
I stepped next to Silas unaware of what I was supposed to do. I still didn't know how to summon the power in me to do my bidding. We had never gotten that far in my training. As I approached Silas' side their leader's head snapped to me.
"What do we have here boys? I believe she thinks she can help. Awe, how sweet." They all began laughing as he walked forward.
"If you wish to keep your head wolf, you will not speak to her in such a way." I hear Silas growl next to me. "Blakely, I told you to stay in the car." He hissed.
"I won't let you do this alone. You know that." I said looking at him. "I can be useful."
His eyes soften. His expression hardens again quickly as he hears the footsteps approaching. All of them moving forward. He stepped in front of me protectively. Aleron stepping to his side immediately. You could cut the tension with a knife. I stepped back as my hands started shaking. I was desperately trying to figure out a way to follow through on my word. How I could be useful to him. How I could protect him the way he was trying to protect me. As I took a step back I felt myself press against something. No...not something. Someone.
"What do we have here?" He purred in my ear. I go to move forward and he jerks me back quick. "Not so fast baby, where is the fire?" He laughs.
I watch Silas tense in front of me as he looks over his shoulder. "Get off of her!" He screams as he begins to turn around.
He smirks. "Not so fast little vampy. Don't turn your back on a pack of wolves. Didn't mommy and daddy teach you any better?" He laughs a little playing with my hair in one hand grabbing a handful of it and jerking my head back. I grit my teeth hard. The last thing I needed Silas to think was that he was hurting me. I didn't want to distract him. "Why don't we play a game? If you can take m boys down...I will release her without hesitation. If not, I am going to have my way with her as they rip you apart."
--------SILAS' POV
I ground my teeth together. Where the f**k did he even come from? And who was he to make such demands? From the way he spoke, it seemed we miscalculated. He seemed to be the leader. He must have been hidden watching somewhere.
I heard him laugh from behind me. "Well, what is it? Will you take the chance?"
"What is my other option?" I hissed watching him from over my shoulder.
He laughs harder. "Oh. I must have forgotten to mention that. You don't have another choice vampy. I'll kill her now if you decline." I watch his hand tighten in her hair.
She wanted to be useful. She wanted to help me. Why wouldn't she just listen to me and stay in the car? Her trying to help just gave them ammo to use against me. There was no way I could win against all 5 of them. I watched Aleron next to me. He looked as worried as I felt. I was between a rock and a hard place.
I turn towards the four in front of me as they begin walking forward. Before my eyes, all four of them shifted into four massive wolves. The one we had assumed to be the leader was black, the two to his left were brown, and the one on his right was silver. Their size alone was intimidating. I had no choice. I needed to win. For Blakely's sake, and my kingdom. The wolves began to growl showing their teeth.
To my surprise, the silver wolf is the first to lunge. He was on me before I realized what was happening. We were on the ground fighting for dominance and man, it was not off to a great start.
"Silas no!" Was all I heard Blakely scream. Her screams of desperation were becoming too much to bear. "Please stop!"
I bit the wolf hard. I felt my fangs sinking through his fur and into his flesh as he yelped. I forced my venom through him causing him to convulse and howl in pain but before I could push him off of me the other three were on top. I felt their teeth sinking into my flesh. I was trying so hard to not scream. The last thing I wanted was to make her worry about me further. I felt blood dripping from my shoulder. They were going to rip me apart if this continued. Soon enough I felt Aleron's presence as he ripped one of the brown ones away from me.
At least I only had two to worry about now. I attempted to throw one off of me as I groaned in pain. My blood steadily flowing from the bite wound. As I flung the other brown one back I heard a loud growl. Not that of an ordinary wolf, but an Alpha. His howl shook the trees.
Everyone stopped moving. I gripped the gash on my shoulder as I stood watching the approaching wolves. He was a massive black wolf with a white patch of fur forming a symbol. It was one of the star constellations. Ah...I knew the symbol well. Immediately Blakely rushed to my side finally free from her captor. Rogues were foolish. But not foolish enough to fight against one of the royal packs.
"Who is that?" I heard Blakely whisper in awe.
I smirked watching the massive wolf step forward. "He is the fourth born son of the Alpha King. The eighth in line for the throne. Scorpio."
