Chapter 2 Seeking Evidence

Chapter 2

She went through every paper work thoroughly and it showed that they were funded a lot, especially the past six months and the money they used on a daily basis wasn't even a quarter of what the company makes. Like filling up the company car to courier their goods. The workshops for the employees. The trips she took to New York to close business deals. Sometimes she even used money from her own pocket when it was an emergency.

She felt like her head was going to explode because all of this didn't make any sense.

She took out another file to see all the bank statements she filed and realized that there was some funds missing from the previous months. She started making calculations of some amounts on the statements and realized that over $20 000 was missing.

"But how's this possible? I was so careful! How did I miss this? So I was bringing in the money and someone was living off my fathers company????" She mentally said to herself.

She drank down her hot chocolate, then walked to her bedroom afterwards. Holding her head in her hands, feeling stressed that she's fired and she lost her dad's money. Where will she work now? This is the company she worked for since high school.

She didn't even go to college because she wanted to help her dad grow his small business, besides they didn't have enough money to send her to college. At the time, the company didn't make much because it was still new.

She stopped thinking so much, stripped her clothes off and went to take a shower. She opened the taps and just let the water flow on her body. It felt really good, like she was washing off all her problems away. She got done showering, then got out. Putting some lotion on, then got into her pajamas, her comfort clothes.

Her phone rang in the living room. She quickly ran into the living and the sound was coming from her handbag. She rummaged through it then found it. She glanced at the caller ID then quickly answered it.

It was her bestfriend Abigail.

"Hey Bells, just checking in. How's my bestie doing?" Abigail asked sounding really happy.

"I'm fine Doodle bug and yourself?" She replied feeling down but she tried hiding it from her or at least she thought she did.

"I'm great, but you don't sound like yourself Bells. What's going on? And please don't tell me it's nothing because I can tell that something is wrong." She caught on her mood.

"My father fired me today." She replied earnestly.

"Wait...What!! Why?? What happened??" She asked sounding really surprised.

"He thinks I tried sabotaging his company. He literally threw me out of the office. Today was so humiliating. He didn't even give me a chance to explain myself. How can he treat me like this Abi? I dedicated my life to this company, but he sends someone to escort me out of the building." she vented.

She didn't realize that she was rambling on about this whole ordeal. Well she did need to talk about it with someone.

"Ugh girl that really sucks. I'm coming over after work, okay? Just stay calm and hang in there until I come over." Abigail said to her.

Arabella was so glad to hear that her bestfriend was coming over soon. She needed her now more than ever.

"Okay babes. See ya later." Bella replied.

"I love you my favorite human being." Arabella said chuckling.

"I love you more my firecracker. To the moon and back." Abigail replied and she chuckled too, then hung up.

As pleased as she was that her bestfriend was coming over soon she switched on the TV to see what was on while she cooked so long, but nothing interesting was on the TV.

She made spaghetti Bolognese.

The one thing that didn't escape her mind while she was cooking was what happened today. She still couldn't believe that her father actually fired her.

All her life she thought her father trusted her but he just proved her wrong. This means he never fully trusted her because if he did he would've gave her a chance to tell her side of the story and to prove to him that it wasn't her who stole the money from his company.

She finished cooking then went to charge her phone in her bedroom. An hour later Abi arrived. She gave her friend what she needed the most at this very moment.

A hug.

They ate dinner together and after lending her friend a shoulder to cry on and support, she left because it was getting really late. She was going to stay the night but her family needed her too.

She promised to come in the morning to check up on Arabella before going to work.

She locked the door after Abigail left then went straight to bed.
